Facebook and Electoral Commission launch UK voter registration push
Source: BBC

Social networking website Facebook has been brought in to get unregistered voters into the polling booth.

In a tie-up with the Electoral Commission, Facebook users who visit the site over the weekend will be asked if they have registered to vote.

If they say "No" they will be sent to a page linked to the Electoral Commission that lets them enter details online.

The deadline for voter registration for the 6 May general election is 20 April - later than in previous elections. The Electoral Commission estimates that 3.5 million people who were eligible to vote in England and Wales in 2001 were not registered.

But will the Daily Mail still continue it's anti-Facebook hysteria over this?

1. Oh yeah, the Mail could still oppose that
They'd say that people had been given prior notice to register, and shouldn't be given a second chance to do so. That Faceboook users are likely to be younger will just enrage the Mail editors more.

The Daily Mail is a rabidly RW British Tabloid which for some reason is hugely anti-Facebook, and will print any old shite as long as it's being nasty about that website.

A prime example being the below story about Facebook causing cancer, which bizzarly made the front page.

There are very good reasons why UK DUers do not like people trying to use the Daily Fail as a source on DU.
