Neugebauer admits shouting 'baby killer'
By Michael O'Brien - 03/22/10 01:57 PM ET

Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Texas) admitted Monday that he was the lawmaker who shouted "baby killer" toward a colleague during a heated House debate Sunday.

In a statement, the Texas Republican apologized for blurting out "baby killer" during Rep. Bart Stupak's (D-Mich.) speech against a motion to recommit health reform legislation that would have reinserted more stringent restrictions on federal money being used to help purchase insurance plans that cover abortion.

"In the heat and emotion of the debate, I exclaimed the phrase, 'It's a baby killer' in reference to the agreement reached by the Democratic leadership," Neugebauer said in a statement. "While I remain heartbroken over the passage of this bill and the tragic consequences it will have for the unborn, I deeply regret that my actions were mistakenly interpreted as a direct reference to Congressman Stupak himself."

Neugebauer said he had apologized to the Michigan Democrat, who opposes abortion rights but voted for the bill after President Barack Obama promised an executive order on abortion.

4.  I agree . He is perpetrating a lie. This bill will not increase

the number of abortions. So neither Stupek or the bill should be called "Baby Killer".

20. Fetuses are not babies anyway.
So even if the bill offered free abortions, no babies would be killed.

The Pentagon kills more babies.

30. And penises aren't dicks
You can't say that a "dick" is the same thing as a "penis" because it's 2 different words. The medical community also says "erection" instead of "hard-on" so those obviously aren't the same thing either.

39. Do you question the accuracy of the picture?
What difference does it make where the picture came from as long as it's an accurate portrayal of that stage of fetal development? Here, I'll help you out: go to http://images.google.com and search "fetal development" and take your pick (no pun intended) of pics. I'm sure there will be one that will meet your approval. In fact, I'll do the heavy lifting for you:

http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&source=hp&q=fetal+development&gbv=2&aq=f&aqi=g10&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=

There, better now?

40. Interesting point, though
Have you ever heard a happily expectant mother refer to her womb's contents as "the fetus"?

...Me neither. It's always "the baby".

But until we women take up that sword ourselves and implement a little "passive restance" and make some real demands it ain't gonna happen.

9. Silly Nolabear
Don't you remember in what country you live? Women and girls are worthless; it is only what our bodies produce by divine grace of seed that counts, my dear. We are but a clay oven awaiting delivery and deliverance of the glistening male bun 9 months after royal play with the Great Orifice of Mystery and The Fun Bags. Silly feminist.:sarcasm:

Disclaimer: all men are not prey to this kind of thinking. But the ones on the end of the political spectrum we're discussing here certainly seem to be. In their minds they're all the Commander due their Offreds. FOX News and AM radio tell them so. None of them seems to notice their hero, Rush, had to purchase himself an Econowife. He's so right about everything, yet his wife does not truly love him, and the whole world knows it. She's paid to present the McMansion front that she does, and that's about as grim as my first paragraph.

8. What a piece of shit .. his comments were misconstrued.
Edited on Mon Mar-22-10 03:13 PM by Botany
Neugebauer said he was “heart broken” by the passage of the bill, and deeply resentful that his comments were misconstrued.

We’re just learning that it was Texas GOP Rep. Randy Neugebauer who shouted “baby killer” at Rep. Bart Stupak on the House floor last night.
The moment came close to 11 p.m. while Stupak denounced a GOP motion to weaken the health-care-reform package after it already passed.
Under mounting pressure for someone to come forward, Neugebauer made an apology a few minutes ago, and offered a clarification. He says
he called the bill a baby killer, not Stupak himself, even though that’s how it sounded. In the apology, Neugebauer said he was “heart broken”
by the passage of the bill, and deeply resentful that his comments were misconstrued.

http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/thegaggle/archive/2010/03/22/meet-baby-killer-shouter-rep-randy-neugebauer.aspx

Neugebauer (pronounced new-guh-bow-er) is a three-term congressman who comes from a fiercely red district in the Texas panhandle, where
he’s not expected to face a serious challenger this November. That means he probably won’t be punished for the remark by his constituents, many
of whom probably agree with his angry sentiment (albeit perhaps not the heckle itself). But it’s likely Neugebaeur will earn the same notoriety as
Rep. Joe Wilson, who was censured in the House after yelling “you lie” at President Obama last fall. It’s worth pointing out, however, that Wilson’s
heckle also turned into a cash cow, bringing in almost $3 million in donations after the incident. No word yet on whether Neugebauer will also be
censured, but it’s possible fundraisers on all sides will be scheming how to use the tape to their advantage.

**************
he is a birther too.

Neugebauer is also a sponsor of a bill that would require President Obama to release his birth certificate.

Listen:

"I deeply regret that my actions were mistakenly interpreted as a direct reference to Congressman Stupak himself."

In other words, he's sorry that us dummies made the error of thinking that what he said was about Stupak. Note that he did not apologize for saying that he thinks the bill will "kill babies".

34. Charles Stenholm, We Democrats Miss You!
Randy Neugebauer's current district comprises some of former Democratic representative Charles Stenholm's old congressional district, which was redrawn by the Republicans to throw him out of office.

Charles Stenholm was no liberal (At least not by DU's lights), but he was a far, far classier act than what Neugebauer's district is saddled with now. I'd rather have Stenholm, who might only vote with us some of the time, than right wing critter Neugebauer.
