Public split on support for health care bill
Source: NBC News

As Congress prepares for a crucial and possibly decisive vote on the fate of President Barack Obama’s health care plan, the American public is evenly divided about whether the legislation should be passed or rejected, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

Americans are also split on which would be worse for their congressional representative’s re-election chances — a vote for the overhaul bill or a vote against it.

But if their member of Congress votes with Democrats to pass the legislation, 36 percent say they would be less likely to re-elect that member, 28 percent say they would be more likely to vote for the member, and 34 percent say it makes no difference.

1. I don't know how they asked the question(s)
but that would make a huge difference in the responses.

28 % to 34 % . these pollsters are about as fake as it gets .
McCain and failin was neck and neck from the polls, only to see one of the most
embarrassing repug fail in years, to a smart black man, and they are hating every fucking minute.

by roughly the same percentage he lost by.

6. Has anyone done a poll of all the American people
and asked how many support a public option for people 65 and older?

I'll bet that at least 50% of the people in this poll don't know that Medicare is a public option for people 65 and older.

7. There have been several national polls each indicating
that a majority of Americans favor a single payer system. Here is a link:

10. The MSM only reports on DLC/GOP push polls.
Quasi-legitimate polls are discounted because they do not reflect the conservative viewpoint.

11. + a million!
Health care is not the same as an insurance profit enhancement scheme.

14. "Public unified in failure to understand what's in the health care bill"
I didn't do that study, but the sentiment is probably true. I wish the media would spend more time informing people of the contents of the bill and less time on the political drama.

Q26a If you knew that your representative in Congress voted with the Republicans to defeat the current health
care bill, would you be more likely or less likely to vote for him or her, or would it make no difference to you
either way in your vote?
