In Awkward Dance, GOP Embraces Both Deficit Reduction and Tax Cut

WASHINGTON (AP) - Congressional Republicans are engaged in a complicated political two-step, pursuing both tax cuts and deficit reduction in an election year when record federal shortfalls are starting to draw the public's attention.

Ignoring Democrats and deficit hawks who said the two policies are contradictory, the GOP-run House Budget Committee embraced both goals Wednesday through approval of a pair of measures. snip

The loss of 2.2 million jobs since Bush took office in 2001 means they need a plan for invigorating the economy. Their chief answer has been tax cuts which appeal to the GOP's conservative and business supporters.

Yet many Republicans have become disenchanted as deficits have spun out of control. Many in the party like the idea of clamping down on spending, but omitting tax cuts from the requirement for budget savings has rankled GOP deficit hawks, raising questions about whether it will garner enough votes to pass the narrowly divided Congress.

3. All it requires
is stimulating growth and spending restraint, not necessarily cuts in spending.

Though these f'ers will probably try to cut medicare or social security.

4. Can we spell Texas Two Step??
Are our leaders up there insane?

These are the kinds of actions which signals mass confusion and narrow mindedness. They want it both ways. Result, imbalance.

The Pubs and their philosophy of ineptness are hurting our Nation big time.

Annnnd, they refuse to see the hurt and instead cling to denial and distraction.

Holy shit, that they even thought of it is SO revealing. Small minds will get us small steps to nowhere. Mental Midgets(with apologies to the short ones) abounds in the Pub Party/ They want the control but really got no idea on how to use it.

Damn.

7. Strangely enough, this might be what truly undoes the GOP
Once people start realizing that the GOP is its own worst enemy AND is screwing over the middle class and nearly everyone else, the Republicans are not going to be able to keep selling their low-tax/strong defense wet dream. High deficits and low job creation will probably come around and bite the GOP in the rear end.

And we won't be able to gloat, because the digging out will be painful, you can be sure. The Eat Your Vegetables administration is coming. I don't know when and in whose hands, but it's coming.
