Senate sitting on 290 bills already passed by House; tension mounts
By J. Taylor Rushing - 02/23/10 06:00 AM ET

Exasperated House Democratic leaders have compiled a list showing that they have passed 290 bills that have stalled in the Senate.

The list is the latest sign that Democrats in the lower chamber are frustrated with their Senate counterparts.

An aide to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) says the list is put together during each Congress, but that this year’s number is likely the largest ever. However, he said Pelosi blames GOP senators, not Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) or Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.).

“The Speaker believes that the filibuster has its place, but clearly Senate Republicans are taking what was once a rare procedural move and abusing it to the detriment of progress for America’s working families,” said Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill.

9. Believe it or not,
I had an Uncle Pete when I was a kid, my most vivid memory of him was his woman in a grass skirt tattoo that would dance when he flexed his arm muscle.:)

Peace, UJ

3. Democratic candidates in states with Republican Senators
need to campaign on the filibuster.

And in those states with Democratic Senators that are up for re-election and have been siding with Republicans, the primary opponents need to do the same thing.

10. When was the last time Pelosi was on Meet the Press or any show for that matter?
Or any Democrat in leadership? When last was Harry Reid on any of the political talk shows. I see Republicans on those shows all the time to spew their crap without anyone to confront their LIES. I am tired of the Democrats bitching without even trying to address the problem in the Public arena.

13. Amen! I've noticed that even the Dem talking heads aren't aggressive.
Some of them are allowing lies to go right over their heads. The Dems need to air these facts every single day. Flood the airways with the numbers, names and events.

The days of Mr. Nice Guy are long past. We are losing billion$ everyday that they allow these cretins to run the show.

Reid is too wimpy. Even when he's mad, he sounds like he's announcing a possibility of rain tomorrow.

11. Bull shit. Make them fuckers really filibuster for a change instead of just making the threat.
Put them all on cspan while they are filibustering. Let them stay up all night and all day for weeks and have their tantrum. I'll bet that if they actually had to filibuster that they wouldn't do it for long because they will have to get back to sucking the lobbyist tit before they start with drawl symptoms.

12. Think Of All The Energy They Would Expend Filibustering All 290 Of These Bills......
Edited on Tue Feb-23-10 11:11 AM by global1
The could have their own Cable TV network - The Filibuster Network (TFN).

They would be on 24/7. They could even get rid of their house on C-Street as they would be living, eating and sleeping in the Senate Chamber on Capitol Hill.

It would be a hit reality show. Hey - call Mark Burnett.

and runs back in his hole. He is useless.

17. Even this response is ineffective, mealy-mouthed, diluted and shitty.
“The Speaker believes that the filibuster has its place, but clearly Senate Republicans are taking what was once a rare procedural move and abusing it to the detriment of progress for America’s working families,” said Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill.

Can't the Pelosi Disaster come up with a ten-word sentence and have every-fucking-body who is a Democrat repeating it for the next 48 hours?

That is what is needed.

25. At your service . . .
In addition to the one posted just below (and thank you to that poster, by the way), try something like this (you can thank me later):

The American People reject the Republicans' -- the "Party of No" -- and their paralyzing the Congress and the nation, killing the life-saving jobs legislation the President wants passed to help everyday, struggling Americans, and the Economy.

Note:

1. "American People:" Take this back away from the criminals; say it early and often; rinse and repeat. WE represent the American People. State it as such.

2. "Party of No:" Three words that every fucking Democrat in the land should repeat over and over, in five different languages, backwardsa and forwards, even in their sleep. It is stigmatizing them for a change with a short appellation that will be rememeberd.

3. Graphic Terms and Terminology: Use "paralyze" and "kill" and "life-saving." These words evoke images and are retained in people's minds.

4. "Economy:" Only the shittiest, most corrupt Congressional leadership could lose an issue as good as the economy, but the traitors Reid and Pelosi have gladly and eagerly done so. The stimulus package, its success, and the connection between government investment (NOTE: NOT "SPENDING" BUT "INVESTING" take this back from the criminal GOP as well) to improving the Economy (Stupid) over and over should be tied to Americans, because they are hurting all day and every day.
