GOP lawmakers seek to suspend Calif. climate law
Source: Associated Press

Republican lawmakers in California are seeking a ballot initiative to suspend California's landmark law to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

The secretary of state's office this week cleared the sponsors' petition. They have until July 5 to collect the 433,971 signatures needed to qualify the initiative for the November ballot.

If passed by voters, it would suspend the 2006 law signed by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger until the state unemployment rate falls to 5.5 percent and stays there for a year.

... Adam Mendelsohn, a spokesman for Schwarzenegger's campaign team, said the governor would fight the initiative if it qualifies.

2. Short-sighted Morons
Why in the world would you try to tie greenhouse gases to the unemployment rate? There are a goodly number of jobs that are likely to be created to accomplish the environmental goals--one of the few things to which Arnie listened to his brother in law Robert Kennedy Jr.

Even stupider, there are people here who will actually believe them.

6. RW radio stations will sell it and environmental orgs should picket them and
complain to the local sponsors of those stations

this should be a no-brainer, considering the reason cal is bankrupt is because the radio stations got a free ride selling those tax initiatives to all those fools who are now revolting against obama as teabaggers, and a lot of other lazy twits who absorbed the chamber of commerce talking points. of course there weren't many radio alternatives for politics while driving or working in the great big blue state of cal.
