S Korea prepares for massive protests
Edited on Sun Mar-14-04 11:27 PM by dArKeR
POLITICAL CHAOS: While supporters of impeached president Roh Moo-hyun prepared to demonstrate, the communist North expressed concern over the unstable situation

AP , SEOUL
Monday, Mar 15, 2004,Page 5

Impeached President Roh Moo-hyun began forming his legal defense team yesterday as South Korea braced for more massive anti-impeachment protests.

Rival North Korea -- in a veiled reference to the historic move to oust Roh -- meanwhile expressed concern over a "very unstable" political situation, and "unprecedented confusion" in the South.

Citing the state of affairs, Pyongyang requested that a round of inter-Korean economic talks, scheduled to begin today in the South, be switched to the Northern city of Kaesong, according to an official North Korean radio broadcast monitored by South Korea's Yonhap news agency.

Lucky they're in a free country like S. Korea and able to protest! If they were in America they'd be gased, beaten, and jailed by the BAST (Bush American Storm Troopers.)

2. I think the people are looking for the court
...to restore the President. If not, Seoul could be shut down by demonstrations.

4. Teryang it's a sad state of affairs...
The Seoul police has just declared that the protests will be considered an "illegal activity". That was on MBC news today.

There is some good news though, http://www.koreaherald.co.kr/SITE/data/html_dir/2004/03/15/200403150034.asp

5. Good news...
There were still tens of thousands of people out in downtown Seoul tonight, even though the protests were supposed to be illegal.
