Foreigners (3 britons and a colombian) kidnapped in Nigeria

Four men working for a Nigerian subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell have been kidnapped by gunmen in south of the country, Nigerian police say.

Rita Abbey, a spokesman for Rivers State police, said the three Britons and one Colombian were seized on Tuesday morning, after their police escort was shot dead.

The men were taken from a road leading from the southern oil city of Port Harcourt to the Shell-operated Afam power plant, police said.

No group has as yet claimed responsibility for the abduction of the four men.
