NATO: Taliban commander killed
Source: UPI

PIRDAD, Afghanistan, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- A Taliban commander allegedly responsible for planning attacks against NATO forces was killed by security forces in Afghanistan Saturday, officials said.

Military officials said in a release that a joint Afghan-NATO security force went to a compound outside the town of Pirdad after intelligence sources confirmed militant activity. When troops approached the compound, the Taliban commander ran to a building, later identified as a mosque, and the security force followed, surrounding the mosque and calling for him to surrender.

When he didn't, the Afghan security force entered the mosque and the Taliban commander allegedly opened fire with an AK-47 rifle. He was then slain, the release said. Officials said the commander was heavily armed with grenades and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

NATO claims the Taliban "continue(s) to violate the sanctity of mosques as protected places. The Afghan-international force does everything possible to avoid fighting in or around any known mosque."

9. So what you're saying is, if we can fracture the Taliban movement, we SHOULDN'T do it?
I don't understand your reasoning here. Clearly we have already made deals with some Taliban factions and clearly the best way forward is to make more deals with other, moderate elements of ths movement. Why exactly are you opposed to this? Because if you want U.S. troops out as badly as you say, this is the quickest way to accomplish that.

12. YAY! The WAR is OVER.
We WIN!
Time to come home.

Meet Hamid Karzai
or as Obama calls him, "The Government of Afghanistan".

He was appointed by Bush the Lesser to run Afghanistan.
He is one of the most despicable criminals in The World,
But NOW we like him so much
that our children will be sent to DIE in the deserts of Afghanistan to keep him in power.
