Fox says Time Warner Cable may drop Fox TV shows
Source: Reuters

NEW YORK (Reuters) - News Corp's Fox television unit said on Friday that testy carriage negotiations with Time Warner Cable Inc could leave viewers unable to see Fox programing, including "American Idol" and NFL football.

Fox said it has for the past nine months attempted to "negotiate in good faith" with Time Warner Cable, the No. 2 U.S. cable operator, which serves some 14 million customers, and said those talks are ongoing.

But there is a "very likely possibility that Time Warner Cable may choose to no longer carry Fox Broadcasting, Fox Cable and Fox regional sports programing," Fox said.

Time Warner Cable confirmed that the talks are ongoing but said Fox's current demands "are unreasonable and excessive, especially in this economic climate."

2. They will come to a deal. Fights like this break out sometimes.
At worst their customers will lose fox for a day or 2. Then when people dont get their NFL or their Simpsons episodes a revolt will follow.

7. Just got an email
From Time Warner, my cable and internet provider and they said Fox wants a 300% increase in payment for Time Warner. If these people mess with my Packer games and BCS Bowl games its bye bye to all of these greedy bums.

24. The NFL may have to reopen its contracting, since Fox will be in breach of contract.
At least I assume that the contract with Fox requires Fox to make its football programming available to the cable audience.

the I.Q.s of many of Time Warner's customers will jump 50 points within a month! (I say many because this will only affect those who watch Fox News - those Time Warner customers who don't watch it now are already smart.)

around the country whose livelihoods are directly affected by this. Including mine. It's not just Fox news, it's the Fox network programming as well. It won't affect you, but it will affect people.

I wouldn't have a problem although I do want to watch the final season of Nip/Tuck on FX.

There are a lot more stations at risk too. I am an HGTV fan and that might get dropped, and I am not even sure they are going to keep my local CBS and ABC affiliates. I have an e-mail into those channels to find out. I am going to be really pissed if they drop ABC. I can still watch CBS on my one set that is not hooked to cable, but ever since the digital transition, I can no longer get my ABC affiliate or NBC affiliate on it. Its a digital set and I have an amplified indoor antenna for it, but still can't pick up their signals. To be honest I don't really care about NBC at the moment.

If this happens I am going to the Dish.

Time Warner sucks. I agree the nets should charge a fair price for retransmission and not price gouge, but TW is basically blackmailing their customers into doing their negotiations for them. Corporate assholes all.

I just hope I can keep Road Runner if I drop their cable tv service.

if i could i would drop everything of fox, from my cable i would do it in a heartbeat.

i hate that my money goes to support rupert murdoch.

the only thing worth a crap on fox is the simpsons. and i would gladly sacrifice that, to stop my money going to him.

44. I already have Fox News blocked on my TV
That would be GREAT NEWS to have Fox News removed from the lineup, but they will reach an agreement.

This same issue came up with Viacom and some other cable carrier a few years back and they reached an agreement once people couldn't get MTV, Comedy Central and their other fave Viacom programming.
