Rumsfeld Kept 9-11 Souvenir
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&e=3&u=/ap/20040312/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/fbi_sept_11_rubble

WASHINGTON - The Justice Department investigation that criticized FBI agents for taking souvenirs from the World Trade Center site also found that Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and a high-ranking FBI official kept items from the Sept. 11 attack scenes.

The final investigatory report said the Justice Department inspector general confirmed Rumsfeld "has a piece of the airplane that flew into the Pentagon." The Associated Press obtained a copy of the report Friday.

Investigators learned Rumsfeld had the airplane part after an FBI agent saw a television interview in which the defense secretary was "holding up pieces of building from the WTC and the Pentagon, saying he kept those items on his desk to remember the terrorist attacks."

A Pentagon spokesman did not immediately respond Friday afternoon for comment...

48. This is now the headline story on Drudge
It was down and now it's back up, but "zotted" - meaning they think they caught a troll and are having a little freeper effigy.

But they're fucking stupid, because with every post, they're actually kicking the story up and up on their site. Drudge seems to think it's an important story -- if you post it on FR, it's censored.

Sad, sad bunch of little people.

32. Genuine Rumsfeld quote
Following is the transcript of U.S. Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's news conference on the current status of the search for people involved in the air attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

RUMSFELD: ... two or three points.
First, we currently believe and are certainly hopeful that the number of casualties being reported in the press is high. As you know from your own observation out there, the work is still going forward, and we won't know for some time precise numbers. But from everything that we currently know, the estimate that's been widely reported is considerably high, and we certainly pray that that's the case.
<snip>
QUESTION: Mr. Secretary, the casualty number you refer to, I assume, is the 800 number that was provided by the Arlington County Fire Department...
RUMSFELD: It is.
QUESTION: ... and you say it's considerably high. We've heard from the military...
RUMSFELD: I said I hope and pray that it is.

Edited on Fri Mar-12-04 11:26 PM by uhhuh
More from Rummie:

"One of the other effects has been--it has had an effect on how people handle classified information. And it seems to me, that it's important to underline that when people deal with intelligence information and make it available to people who are not cleared for that classified information, the effect is to reduce the chances that the United States government has to track down and deal with the people who have perpetrated the attacks on the United States and killed so many Americans.

Second, when classified information dealing with operations is provided to people who are not cleared for that classified information, the inevitable effect is that the lives of men and women in uniform are put at risk, because they are the ones who will be carrying out those prospective operations.

This is a message really for all the men and women in the United States government who have access to classified information. It seems to me that when they see learn of someone who is handling classified information in a way that is going to put the lives of the men and women in uniform at risk, they ought to register exactly what kind of a person that is. It's a person who's willing to violate federal criminal statutes, and willing to frustrate our efforts to track down and deal with terrorists, and willing to reveal information that could cost the lives of men and women in uniform."

I'm sure Rummy can't wait until the Plame leaker is caught, huh?

56. And this:
"The purpose of terrorism is to terrorize. It is to alter behavior. It is to force people who believe in freedom to be less free by altering their behavior and redressing a balance between freedom and security. Anyone who has ever been in a war zone, as I know most of you have, you know that when you walk out of a building you don't walk out with your head high whistling. You look around the corner and see what's out there. That's not the way Americans live, and it's not the way we want to live."

Well Rummie, your guys are the ones who pushed through the Patriot Act, and concieved of TIA, so who are the terrorists again?

What color is the alert today, and where can I get more duct tape?

21. This is from the end of that article
"A New York woman suing local authorities for alleged negligence in the Sept. 11 attacks said any souvenir-taking by officials was part of a larger failure to keep enough items, like steel beams, as evidence.

"Everybody has things that they probably should not have from the World Trade Center site," said Sally Regenhard, whose firefighter son died in the towers. 'I'm sure there's probably all kinds of people that have all kinds of artifacts."'"

***************************************************
They practically set a land-speed record for how quickly they cleaned up Ground Zero. Among other things, wasn't the steel sold to China, and the concrete sent to a landfill in Long Island?

She calls them artifacts. I call them evidence.

41. I believe that Rumsfeld took it as a "totem"
or as a memento of an event that he helped create. I'm saying this in all sincerity: I believe that Donald Rumsfeld gets excited when the topic is about death and dying.

I've seen him testify about the war in Iraq. I've watched him on talk shows, giving an update on what's happening over there. As he describes the carnage and mayhem, the corners of his mouth turn upward, ever so slightly. His eyes get an odd twinkle.

With a sweep of his hand, he reassures the interviewer that "we're killing many more of them than they are killing Americans."

Under his expensive Armani suit and hand-sewn silk tie, his heart starts to beat faster as he thinks about more innocent people being sent to the pearly gates. It's the ultimate power trip: to be able to settle peoples' fates permanently.

The man is sick. That is why he took a piece of the airplane wreckage from the Twin towers. He wanted it to remind him of the one thing that he loves more than any other: death.

67. I'M REMINDED EVERY SINGLE DAY BY HOW THEY'RE NOT BEING....
....HELD ACCOUTABLE FOR THEIR CRIMES...BECAUSE THEY ARE GUILTY THEMSELVES FOR WHAT HAPPENED THAT DAY...AND THERE IS ALL KINDS OF EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT IT....YET A BLOWJOB IS IMPEACHABLE AND THEY GO ON DAY AFTER DAY WITHOUT MUCH AT ALL SAID ABOUT THEIR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY AS A WHOLE.....and he needs to be REMINDED about 9/11....if they aren't all tried and convicted for treason as soon as control is taken from them.....then all that's EVER been defined as justice or democracy has all been in vain as we'll be ever MORE deserving of the twisted fucked up things their minds conceive! I'll say it again...THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A REVOLUTION AFTER THE SELECTION...instead of bendin' over and takin' this ROYAL FUCKIN'for the last 4 years....WE REALLY HAVE NO ONE TO BLAME BUT OURSELVES for allowing these KNOWN criminals to be allowed to govern again...if they'd been BEHIND BARS for their past atrocities while in office...and blah blah blah...isn't hindsight always 20/20 :puke:
