Police murders suspect Maurice Clemmons evades capture

Police trying to hunt down a man suspected of the execution-style killings of four of their colleagues burst into a house in Seattle today after spending the night trying to talk him out of the building - only to find that he was not there.

The setback came after a night of loudspeaker warnings, explosions and gunshots all apparently designed to flush Maurice Clemmons, a convicted armed robber, out of the house.

Mr Clemmons, 37, is the prime suspect in the case and witnesses to the murders yesterday morning in a coffee shop on the edge of the McChord Air Force Base south of Seattle say that the gunman was himself shot in the torso before making his escape.

The cold-blooded ambush shocked the country although investigators say they know of no reason why Mr Clemmons or anyone else would have opened fire on the four officers as they sat working on their laptops, catching up on paperwork at the beginning of their shifts.

...five felony convictions, and facing up to 95 more years for theft charges and for possessing a handgun on school property.

He served 10 years in Arkansas, his sentence was commuted, and he was released.

Later, in Washington state, he was charged with third-degree assault on a police officer and second-degree rape of a child.

Then he was let out on bond ... just last Wednesday. He is suspected of shooting the four officers a mere four days after his release.

He was apparently shot, and apparently isn't receiving any medical attention, so he might be hiding at room temperature in a ditch somewhere..

is being aided by family. I just don't get that, not only did he shatter, ruin and destroy four families, he will ruin his own family, being that anyone aiding him will be prosecuted to the max.
