Myers says central Iraq a ‘war zone’
http://msnbc.com/news/870749.asp?0sl=-11&cp1=1

16 Americans killed in hostile action in 10 days

July 29 — Amid the almost daily attacks on American troops, the top U.S. military commander said Tuesday that central Iraq remains a war zone.

NEARLY THREE MONTHS after President Bush declared major military operations over in Iraq, U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Richard B. Myers said central Iraq, from Baghdad to Tikrit, was still a “war zone.”

“Eighty percent of the security incidents are happening there,” Myers said during a visit to India. “It’s fair to say it’s still a war zone in that area.”

2. Myers is contradicting...
...his Commander in Chief, and as a result should be relieved of his command.

3. isn't that where most of the people live?
Because I really get pissed off when they say "oh well the north is quiet, the south is quiet"

get real, the south & southeast is quiet because there is the Syro Arabian Desert there where nobody lives.

the north is not quiet, troops have gotten killed in Tikrit, Mosul, Samarra, even casualties in south-central towns of Karbala and Najaf.

5. But it is word play
Baghdad is still a war zone, but the rest of the country is quiet. He is not contridicting Bush Chenney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Rice Powell or any of these people. 90% of the country is quiet. As you point out though, 90% of the country is uninhabited or close to it. He is making it seem like there is only one hot spot left to deal with. He is also saying that the U.S. forces have 90% of the country under control from hostilities.

6. The troops are dying...
I've been hearing it over and over on the radio, and reading it online (gave up news from the Idiot box a long time ago)...but nobody is drawing attention to the fact that this is WRONG.

No more names are being given. They're all just faceless numbers... This is disgusting.

The average person doesn't give a shit any more. The Chimp can do pretty much as he pleases.
The people whose children are being killed believe they are dying "For their Country". Some one must come forward and educate them that their children are dying for Exxon Oil, Haliburton and the Bush Legacy.
Unfortunately, the 8 or so Democratic midgets running for president, don't want to offend anyone.
