Hoffman will not file for recount (NY-23)

Source: News10

The never-ending battle in New York's 23rd Congressional District seems to be coming closer to an end. According to his campaign, Conservative candidate Doug Hoffman has decided not to file a claim for a recount. Democrat Bill Owens leads the race by more than 3,000 votes, with only a few absentee ballots left to count.

Hoffman's campaign has complained of tampering and the report form a St. Lawrence County website about a computer virus tainting results. But in the end, he decided not to ask for a recount.

When we asked if that meant the challenges were over, we were told never say never and to wait for a full statement coming later this week.

As for those claims, board of elections offices from the state on down deny any wrong doing and say in all, the process went as well as could be expected.

"There are minor hiccups in every process," Jefferson County Democratic Board of Elections Commissioner Sean Hennessey said. "But I think it was a great rollout. People performed their jobs very well. I think our hats should be off to all the boards of elections. They did a great job."

9. Now wait 'til the insurance moguls bribe him.
They bribe everybody they need eventually and politely pass the cost onto us, the sheeple.

13. Recount suits are pretty expensive
It wouldn't surprise me if Hoffman decided not to spend more of his own money on a futile pursuit. I know that in other areas of the country, recount suits have to be brought very quickly, within a week or sometimes within as little as 72 hours after a winner has been certified. I wonder if Hoffman blew the deadline and is now magnanimously deciding not to file claim that would be time-barred anyway.

17. New York poll workers get very cranky when someone impugns their honesty.
I think Hoffman didn't make many friends with this accusation.
