FORT WORTH, Texas -- A treasure trove of priceless photographs were recently found dumped under a bridge in South Fort Worth.

Among the found photographs were images of President John F. Kennedy's motorcade just moments before his assassination, a young President George H. W. Bush and Gwendolyn Brooks, the first African American to win a Pulitzer Prize.

Apparently these are not pics of JFK and Bush together. Separate pics of each.

1. Somebody stole them from the Genealogical Society five years ago?
That's the theory, anyway. I'm glad someone found them. There are hundreds of photos there.

4. The pic with the "unidentified" man is Andre Ware, the Heisman Trophy
winner. That's the Heisman with them. Nobody in Dallas knows that?

Figures. In a town with a pro team that hasn't won a playoff game since 1996.

5. Nobody that lives in Dallas was born and raised there anymore
or relatively very few, it seems.

7. That's my perception, what with all the foreign companies like Exxon,
JCP, Pizza Hut and others relocating to there in recent years.

Ah, well. We live west of I35, so don't really exist to the PTB.

11. Did Andre Ware win the Heisman in 1967?
That pic is older than granny's panties, and that is NOT Andre Ware.

20. It's Archie Griffin from Ohio State
He won the trophy twice. One in '74 and again in '75.

23. I find they're often one of those underestimated
teams - at least from the smack-talk end of things. Then again, I live in Idaho :)

maybe even the 70's judging from Poppa Bush's hair

8. This seems to be a recovered holding that was stolen from someone
tracking the local black community. I hope we hear more about this story.

9. Maybe some one trying to destroy some african american history
or maybe a collection from a homeless person, years ago I met an elderly homeless lady living behind a gas station who was carrying all his pictures and memories in plastic bag. She toll me that she used to be a teacher I never new why she was homeless but she had aweson pictures with her showing places like Paris and Rome.

When some elderly people die the kid or family members who survive them go and throw away all the memories those people accumulated during their lives because the picture of grandma doesn't look good with their new furniture.

10. There was some stuff stolen five years ago from the genealogical society
per the video. It looks like someone's conscience was bothering them too much.

Recently, my mom and I were involved in a sale where the now deceased owner had no family. There were thousands of snapshots and post cards from all over the world. We had no clue what to do with them so we just put them away.

13. old photos
I'm saving old photos that belonged to my stepgrandmother who has no relatives left who care about them. They're amazing photos.

But many have no labels. Label things, people, in some archival way.

EFerrari, you might consider putting the ones you have up for sale on ebay piece by piece or a few at a time. There are people out there looking for bits of their family history or with collecting interests. At least they'd likely go to good homes.

24. Yes, definitely try to find who might be wanting them.
Someone gave my mother a daguerreotype of her grandmother, her mother and three aunts ca. 1906 recently on a trip to Central America. We didn't know it existed! Just in time, too, to save it before it fades away.

Secrets behind the Bush facade

The Sun-Herald

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2004/09/19/1095532158828.html?from=storyrhs

"...While I wrote this book, there were obstacles other than people's reluctance to talk and Bush family resistance. When I began digging for information, I ran into an extraordinary number of lost records, misplaced files and registers that had been mysteriously destroyed by fire over the years. Documents such as bankruptcy records are inexplicably missing from federal court files; other Bush business records that should be in the public domain have disappeared..."

Is the picture of the schoolbook depository in this report a cropped part of the photo taken as the motorcade is passing? Anyone know which window Oswald is in?
