Palin Greets Hundreds, But Not Everyone Leaves Happy
Source: TheIndyChannel

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin was met by a cheering crowd of more than 1,000 people when she arrived in Noblesville Thursday night, but not everyone left happy.

...

The store handed out 1,000 wristbands for Thursday night's book signing, which wrapped up just before 9 p.m. Those who got to meet a woman they consider an idol walked away happy.

...

"Noblesville, this was so great. You guys are hardcore patriots. Thank you so much for being here," she said.

But not everyone went away happy. Several dozen people who had wristbands were turned away.

"They didn't have this organized well enough," said Sue Hendricks. "It was just not done right."

"I'm very disappointed. I think it was very rude. She could have at least apologized, and she didn't even do that," said Teresa Hedrick.

...

"We gave up our entire workday, stayed in the cold. My kids were crying," said one man. "They went home with my wife. She was out here in the freezing cold all day. I feel like I don't want to support Sarah."

3. "hardcore patriots" who give up their day and stay out in the cold with their kids.
Sounds like colossal fucking idiots to me.

But, if being stuck out in the cold and ignored by a con-woman makes you second guess your allegiances after all the facts...well so be it.

9. Dumb as a rock
Attending a healthcare town hall meeting I was constantly accosted by these poor people. They are clueless. I came to the conclusion that they are just idiots and fairly harmless. The one that handed me a silver dollar and read the clause in the Constitution prohibiting the states from printing money was typical. He believed it prohibited the US from printing money. Petty racists, not the club wielding kind I grew up with, poorly educated and clueless. Not any real threat to anyone. Ignore them.

12. Are these people paying to see her? Her Plano appearance is supposedly "sold out"
Rogue Sells: Palin's Plano stop nearing sellout

UPDATE, 1:01 p.m.: The event has sold out, says Legacy Books.

###
Michael Merschel on our Books Blog reports that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's scheduled visit to Legacy Books in Plano has nearly sold out. The bookstore sold 850 copies of Going Rogue, Palin's book about her family, governing the Last Frontier and her struggles while campaigning with Sen. John McCain.

Palin is scheduled to visit the store on Dec. 4 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Merschel writes that Legacy Books believes that the Palin event will be the store's biggest since it opened about a year ago.

19. sounds like a fairly "hardcore" thing to do
I would certainly never consider buying it. If I happened to find one on my lawn, I would use gloves, wrap it in brown paper, and contact the landfill for proper disposal instructions. I would not want that kind of stuff contaminating the local groundwater.

to meet Palin, but it sounds like the event was poorly organized and those people (even if they are dumb as rocks) have a legitimate beef.

If they had a wristband and were told that they'd meet her and get a signature because they had a wristband, then they should have been accommodated.

I'm not going to diss anybody who stood out in the cold, either. I once stood all day in the rain to get a book signed by Jimmy Carter and several hours on a winter night to get a book signed by Al Gore.
Granted my politics are way different from Palin's groupies, but standing out in the cold like that isn't unique to R's.

The worst experience I ever had at a book signing was when Hillary Clinton's book came out. People in line were told 400 wristbands would be distributed at 9:00 AM. I was there at 6 and was about 150th in line. By 9 so many people had pushed their way to the front or were let in by people saving places for them that I ended up going home empty-handed. That was definitely the bookstore's fault. Those wristbands should have been given out as people arrived in the first place. Pretty typical though. Crowd control generally sucks.
