Thousands line up in Michigan for Palin
Source: Washington Post

Thursday, November 19, 2009

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. -- Sarah Palin's "Going Rogue" tour is going perfectly according to plan.

True to the last page of her memoir, in which the former Alaska governor writes, "We can't abandon Michigan and places like it," Palin and the media steamroller she has been riding for the last week kicked off her book tour on Wednesday in the state the McCain campaign deserted, to her publicly expressed chagrin.

Her return had all the trappings of a political campaign -- bus, advance team, security detail, political handlers, rope lines, satellite trucks and approximately 2,000 supporters and gawkers on site.

A blue coach bus with "Going Rogue With Sarah!" written on the front over the likeness of a moose pulled up outside the Barnes and Noble here at about 5:30 p.m. The campaign anthem "Only in America" played on a speaker outside the store. When she got off the bus, wearing her familiar uniform of black skirt, high heels and red blazer, she waved with one hand and held her son Trig, dressed in a striped green sweater, in the other. The group erupted in applause. She walked to a small platform in the middle of the crowd, said "Thank you so much for showing up," and handed Trig to an aide.

12. When it comes to reporting the "crowds" of all the worshippers of the Repugs, I'm reminded
of an old cartoon, I believe it was Dave Berg in MAD ...

Older couple comes to the city from the country, are in awe of the skyscrapers.

Wife tells husband, "Just look at those tall buildings." They proceed to stare at the buildings.

Pretty soon, a few other people wonder what they're staring at, and join the older couple in staring up.

After a while, someone new to the crowd says, "What are we looking at?"

Another person, who came a little earlier, says "I dunno. I think someone's going to jump from a building."

The wife turns to the husband and, in a terrified voice, says, "Did you hear that? Someone's gonna jump!"

Somehow I don't think the snowmobile business can support that kind of production.

Nobody in these crowds has evolved.

7. Back in the early 90s, Howard Stern had 1000s come see him too
Not to compare the two at all, but when Stern was on his "Private Parts" book tour, he drew bigger crowds than this she-devil could ever hope for. When Al Gore was here in Pasadena last week, they had to hold his book signing in an auditorium to accommodate everyone who went to see him.

Stephanie Miller said today on her program that Fux showed footage of crowds from the campaign last year and tried to pass them off as people attending her "book" tour, a la Hannity a couple of weeks ago. I'm shocked I tells ya!

10. ha! I wouldn't be surprised if they were Amway attendees as mentioned above since it's DeVos' area
plus, as another person said, Howard Stern had bigger crowds - if this is the best she can do, we can thank the GOP for keeping her around to mess up their plans, because we know she's a rock around the neck of whatever campaign she's a part of - she'll embarrass them in 2010 & 2012.

13. And they were all White. When will the media mention this? Can you imagine
if the President's crowds had been all Black. Those people would have pooped their pants. I'm sure there would have been a civil war.

These people are double digit IQ, nose breathers. Sarah "Pain the ass" is the best thing to ever happen to the Democrat party. The more she talks, the more people figure out how stupid she is.

19. If you deride you'll be surprised
I think it's easy to dismiss the Palin phenomenon as simply spawning a few more redneck knuckle dragging fans, but I have a feeling deep in my fortune-telling Tragic 8-Ball that we'll be in for a rude surprise next presidential election if the ideas she and others in the neo-neo-conservative movement spew are not countered quickly.

Never underestimate the power of fast talk and charm to turn the stupid masses into loyal robots who will disrupt meetings and intimidate others over to their side in other ways. The stupid brought W to power, and the stupid can win again.

26. We haven't been feeling the job love from Obama so far.
Edited on Thu Nov-19-09 10:15 PM by Psephos
Which is why a populist approach will find traction.

As important as health care is, jobs are even more important, and I'm hearing a lot of grumble on the Michigan street that the President has his priorities in the wrong order.

Same thing is happening in Ohio. These are solidly blue states that are starting to look a little purple.

29. Amway Tool Scam
Speaking of Michigan, Amway, DeVos, etc., everyone should be
aware the source of Amway's poor reputation is the Amway tool
scam. Read about it on my blog, I suggest you start here:
http://tiny.cc/D5oJh and foward the link to everyone you know,
so they don't get scammed.
