Obama says talks under way on Iran sanctions
SEOUL, South Korea — President Barack Obama said Thursday the United States has begun talking with allies about fresh punishment against Iran for defying efforts to halt its nuclear weapons pursuits.

Obama's tough talk came as Iran indicated it would not ship its low-enriched uranium to Russia for processing, the centerpiece of deal aimed at a peaceful resolution to Iran's contested nuclear program.

"They have been unable to get to `yes', and so as a consequence, we have begun discussions with our international partners about the importance of having consequences," Obama said in a brief news conference with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak.

Obama said a new package of punitive steps will likely be developed "over the next several weeks." He did not get more specific about the nature of any new sanctions, which would require commitments of international support that are hardly clear yet.

BULLSHIT!

Mr. President you are well aware that Iran isn't in refusal of proposal from the AIEA..right? in fact, Mr, President, the Iranians have proposed that their domestically enriched uranium is to 20 percent, or buy the 20-percent-enriched uranium that it needs, rather than exchanging for its low enriched uranium (used radiology equipment..treatment of Cancer patients) with fuel rods. Indeed the Iranians are worried that we aren't able to fulfill these promises....Americas promises you are trying to keep. Iranians have learned from non-delivery from the French and the Russians.

Iranians responded, Mr. President, at early , that they would prefer to domestically enrich uranium to 20 percent, or buy the 20-percent-enriched uranium that it needs rather than exchanging its own-enriched uranium with fuel rods...therefore before enriched uranium is sent out from Iran, there need be an exchange inside Iran...this would satisfy the so-called IAEA draft.

Mr. President, Iran never failed to respond to the proposal in a timely manner....but the western media will never tell it so.

3. Exactly. Just as the western media never made much of
it in 2006 when Ahmadinejad called for a nuclear free middle east. The selective reporting on this is nearly as frightening as it was with the WMD in Iraq. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/4756652.stm

2. K & R!
This is the way diplomacy is supposed to work. Iran had reached an agreement in principle, then they reneged on it.

4. Great idea.
Let's punish the people of Iran, because we don't trust the leaders of Iran, because they're Muslims and Israel hates them, not due to any evidence.
