Ex-Kiss drummer: Breast cancer not just for women

SPRING LAKE, N.J. – Lying in bed one night in 2007, Peter Criss felt something strange: a small lump on his left breast.

"I thought, `It's a nodule, I'm a guy, I don't think it's anything more than that,'" he said. "The more I messed with it, the bigger it got and the more it hurt, and that started really scaring me."

The former Kiss drummer went to the doctor, underwent some tests and a surgical procedure to remove the lump. A week later, the doctor called. It was breast cancer.

"My heart hit my stomach and my knees buckled," Criss recalled.

"You need to immediately tell your wife, your girlfriend, your boyfriend, whatever," he said. "The more you sit around and say, `Well, it's going to go away,' that time could be the time that you save your life."

2. Breast Cancer

About six years ago my nephew was diagnosed with breast cancer a few weeks after his wife was operated on also for breast cancer.

They both had the operation and chemo but he passed away about a year ago at the age of 55.

4. I had a moobular mammogram last week...

Similar situation but the surgeon has informed me it is nothing, no need for a biopsy.

It's my second cancer scare, I dread the third.

5. Richard Roundtree

Richard Roundtree (the original John Shaft and former Ebony model) was also diagnosed with breast cancer several years ago. Like Criss, Roundtree said he was floored when he was told he had breast cancer because he'd thought only women got the disease.

Last I heard from him, he was doing well.

7. My Dad Had Breast Cancer

when he was very young - in his 30's.

I just had a needle biopsy with good results.
