Anti-Abortion Group to Protest Palin
When Palin hits Indiana to tout her book, pro-lifers will be out in force—because they don't believe she's one of them.
—By Stephanie Mencimer

When she was running for governor of Alaska in 2006, Sarah Palin reportedly said that even if her then-14-year-old daughter were raped, she would "choose life" and force her to bear a child. Comments like that that have endeared the fiery Alaskan politician to most pro-life voters, who lionized her for not aborting her Down's Syndrome baby. But Trig isn’t enough to protect Palin from a phalanx of anti-abortion activists who plan to protest her appearance on Thursday to promote her book in the conservative heartland of Indiana. Their reason? They think she's not really pro-life.

For the Denver-based American Right to Life, when it comes to abortion, Palin is as impure as any godless feminist. “er words and actions prove that she is officially pro-choice and stands against the God-given right to life of the unborn,” they write in a new report. ARTL members plan to educate reporters about Palin’s many alleged failings as a true believer, particularly her March nomination of a former Planned Parenthood board member to the Alaska Supreme Court and her refusal to call for a ban on the morning-after pill.

2. Impure. Oh my. Not that.
Puts me in mind of the George Carlin routine about confession. "Heavy on the impure thoughts, father."

Whatever will we do with 'impure' people?

There's an old story about a farmer who is digging a deep hole. His neighbor walks by and says "what are you digging that hole for?"

Farmer answers: "Gonna bury all the sons of bitches in this hole."

Neighbor responds: "But who will be left to cover them up?"

.........•Thinks the Morning After Pill should be Legal: Palin says that personally she would not take the Morning After Pill (an abortifacient chemical that kills the tiniest children) but that it should not be illegal. "I don't think that it should necessarily be illegal." This demonstrates the ARTL adage that "To be personally pro-life means to be officially pro-choice."

•Claims a Child's Right to Life comes from the Government: Palin undermines the God-given right to life of the unborn by wrongly indicating that a child's right to live comes from the government by the people rather than from the Creator. When the Anchorage Daily News asked, "to what extent should abortion be prohibited in Alaska?" Sarah should have answered correctly that Alaska should never allow a single innocent child to be put to death. Instead of providing leadership and teaching about the child's right to life, Palin passed the buck and wrote, "it would not be up to the governor... It would be up to the people of Alaska to discuss and decide..."2 3 The News did not ask Palin "how" but "should" abortion be prohibited. To see how wrong and destructive Palin's answer is, imagine an anti-slavery activist, or an opposition leader in NAZI Germany, when asked if blacks should be free, or if Jews should be protected by law, answered, "It would be up to the people to decide." When a Christian leader disregards the Creator as the source of human rights, in a populace appeal for power, such political cowardice further erodes the hope of the innocent.

•Imposes her own Opinion, only when Wrong: When Palin says the people or their legislature should decide whether or not to permit abortion, someone might attribute that error to a false sense of humility before public opinion and the division of powers. However, after the Alaskan people spoke in a statewide vote against homosexual marriage, and after the Alaska legislature passed a law effectively opposing efforts to legitimize homosexual marriage, Sarah Palin "vetoed the law, and in effect granted marriage benefits to state employees and their partners."4 Thus Palin imposes her own opinion in support of tax-funded spousal benefits for homosexual unions, but defers to "the people" as to whether to protect children from being dismembered.•Has Not Endorsed State Personhood Efforts: Inconsistent with her recognition of the inestimable worth of her own son Trig,5 6 7 Sarah Palin has not endorsed any state8 9 personhood amendment.

Has Not Endorsed the Federal Personhood Amendment: Unlike Ronald Reagan, who in 1981 offered to sign a federal human life amendment, Sarah Palin has not endorsed today's version of that effort, American Life League's Federal Human Personhood Amendment.10 Reagan publicly regretted his previous pro-abortion actions.11 Sarah Palin should exhibit the former president's willingness to acknowledge error. As with all leaders profiled on this site, Sarah Palin can raise her ProlifeProfiles ranking from Tier 4 by simply asking ProlifeProfiles.com. If Palin lets ProlifeProfiles know which Tier describes her actual commitment to the innocent, we will take her at her word.

Appointed Planned Parenthood Board Member to Court: Sarah Palin appointed former Planned Parenthood board member Morgan Christen to Alaska's Supreme Court in March 2009. Of course Palin12 makes excuses for that action, utterly misrepresenting the truth by pretending she had no choice. Under any circumstance would Palin have appointed a known racist? Of course not. Imagine a supposed abolitionist who appointed a slave owner to the Supreme Court. And of the unrepentant child killer Christen, Palin wrote, "I have every confidence that Judge Christen has the... wisdom and character to be an outstanding Supreme Court justice."13

10. This is where the anti-abortion crowd is headed
But for some reason, the popular media choose to emphasize the "pro-choice" "pro-life" dichotomy. Would the national conversation be affected if the ultimate goal of people like American Right to Life (that is, legal bans on every form of birth control, family planning, and sex education) were given their place and prominence? I think it would change things dramatically if right to life folks had to answer the question about the pill before they got into their frothing at the mouth over killing babies and partial birth abortions and the other hot button nonsense they like to push. Certainly people who think that women should have the right to decide what happens to their own bodies have to jump through those hot button hoops every time they go on a show; how about a little fairness and balance here?

14. There's no fanatic like a religious fanatic . . . that's why patriarchy/politicians continue
to finance and encourage them wherever they need them --

from Afghanistan to 9/11 --

from "Pro-Life" murder for the RCC --

to "faith-based" organization money to subsidize religion --

Patriarchal religion is simply a tool of patriarchy, created by patriarchy.

Like Taliban/Al Qaeda created by US/CIA --

Like Christian Coalition, created by GOP who gave them start up $$$ --

Other right wingers also gave start up $$$ to Dobson for his organization and

to Bauer for his.

US/CIA also had a role in creating violent Islamic teachings --

moving violent Islamic themes into ME.

17. The right is anti-choice, not pro-life. They have no problem with
war, the death penalty, or society's requiring people people choose between paying rent and buying food or buying medication or getting medical care (RIP, Dave).

They were known first as anti-abortion, but even that was a misnomer because no one I ever heard of is pro-abortion per se, only pro a woman's ability to choose. And when the pro-choice movement took its name, rather than being known as pro-abortion, the right decided that it did not want to be known as "anti anything." So, they named themselves pro-life, even though "pro life" as applied to the right is a bald-faced lie. The right is anti-choice, pure and simple.

18. Their goal is to return to a pre-Griswold v. Connecticut world, where even
discussing birth control with a husband and wife is a crime, let alone supplying them with birth control devices or pills.
