Ford, Workers Close To Avoiding Claycomo Plant Strike

CLAYCOMO, Mo. -- Union workers at the Ford Claycomo assembly plant are close to avoiding a strike after union officials said some issues have been resolved.

Union officials said workers had been concerned about working conditions at the plant, but those concerns have been resolved. Ford and the union reached an agreement on issues related to the workload at the plant late Friday night, union officials said.

The plant assembles the Ford F-150, Escape and the Mercury Mariner.

Union leaders said problems developed in October when the automaker added a third shift.
