Greenspan sees more jobs "before long' (ROFLMAO!)

WASHINGTON (CBS.MW) -- Employment should pick up before long as the economic recovery gains momentum, Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan said Thursday. "In all likelihood, employment will begin to increase more quickly before long as output continues to expand," he told the House Education and Workforce Committee in prepared remarks. "We have reason to be confident that new jobs will displace old jobs as they always have, but America's job turnover process will never be without pain," he said.

...just a bit more garbage at link...

We are no longer "poised on the cusp"!

Now it "should pick up before long"!

I do believe that it picked up and left the country, Alan.

What a dope.

Americans continue to pack away the food until Big Brother makes it illegal to eat junk food.

3. He's no dope, he is doing
exactly what Bushco is telling him to do - he is supporting them all the way down the crapper - remember, poppy is the one who selected him to start with - he is ever loyal to Bushco even if it means the ruination of this country fiscally

on Lou Dobbs last night he had an economist on, who really gave a huge wake up call - he said our currency will soon be on the same road as Argentina's -

so soon we can all hang what dollar bills we have left to be used in the outhouse

even Christine Romans said that the outlook for job recovery is dim, according to statistics.

31. President Kerry needs to fire this tool.
He has shown his partisan colors under Bush. We need a FR Chairman who does what is best for the American people, not just the rich ones.

4. Wow!
Then I should be able to find a great job soon. Since I have been unemployed since Bush took office, and listening to how job growth is "just around the corner" for awhile, I better dust off my interview suit.

Maybe employment will increase in October just in time for the Bushites to say "See, we told you so."

10. Another Hoover quote that rings bells:
What the world needs today is a definite, spiritual mobilization of the nations who belive in God against this tide of Red agnosticism. ...And in rejecting an atheistic other world, I am confident that the Almighty God will be with us.

9. Of course, they're on their way!
Remember, all of the tourist towns will be hiring for the summer soon.

So just when we start to create 100s of thousands of jobs just in time for summer, remember that after labor day they're all going to go away again.

11. Shortage of High Skilled Laborers?! Bah!
Greenspan said the U.S. has a shortage of high-skilled workers and a surplus of low-skilled workers, despite higher levels of education in the workforce.

Allow me to translate. What he really means is that America has a shortage of high-skilled workers willing to work at the wages of low-skilled workers.

21. Not everyone may be aware that the price of steel is skyrocketing.
I work in the construction industry and we are seeing 40% or more price increases since February 1st. China is having a major building boom and competition is heavy for steel. By the end of the year this will translate into an increase in prices for everything made from steel. The inflation rate is going to take a big jump which will mean higher interest rates.

We may see a few new jobs this summer but the crap is about to hit the fan.

23. Do you think higher energy prices are responsible higher steel prices?
If higher steel prices do raise the CPI Greenspan may raise
interest rates and that could negatively impact housing and
private investments.

24. I'm sure energy plays a part in it but...
our suppliers are giving us the china story. Steel production was cut back when there was a glut of steel on the market. The American mills have been almost totally wiped out by foreign competition. Now the demand is out striping the supply worldwide.

29. We used to pay 40 cents a pound now we pay 60 cents a pound.
That is actually a 30% increase but our suppliers used to guaranty prices for 90 days to 6 months. Now they only guaranty prices for 30 days. I have to compensate for that when I bid a project by covering my ass with a little more money. It's getting crazy out there.

34. Thanks for the link.
From the article:

(snip)

“The per-foot price of steel used in framing commercial buildings has jumped by 70% to 80% this year, Young said, and prices are still moving. ''It changes by the day,'' he added.

Observers offer varied reasons, from burgeoning demand in China to higher energy prices to the end of tariffs that protected American suppliers.

Michael Tarr, president of Nashville's First American Futures Inc., sees the rising price of building materials as fueling higher home prices that will eventually dry up demand. He called the United States a ''sleeping giant for inflation,'' as foreign buyers bid up the price of commodity products, including construction materials.”
