Daily TimesPESHAWAR: Unidentified gunmen killed a Pakistani working for the Iranian consulate in Peshawar on Thursday, said police.
A police official told Daily Times that the assailants fired at a vehicle carrying Abul Hassan Jaffery – director of public relations at the Iranian consulate in Peshawar – while he was on his way to work from his residence in Gulberg.
Cantonment SP Nisar Marwat told reporters the “Iranian official could have been the victim of a sectarian killing”.
The president, the prime minister, the foreign minister and the NWFP governor have strongly condemned the killing. The foreign minister vowed to bring those responsible for the killing to justice.

A few weeks ago Iran accused Pakistan extremists of playing a role in recent bombing in Iran. This is not reported much, but there is some ongoing, and growing tension between Iran and Pakistan.
