Senate GOP cool to Stupak amendment

Senate Republicans seem initially cool to Rep. Bart Stupak’s (D-Mich.) amendment in House health-care overhaul legislation, which essentially blocks the federal funding of abortions.

Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), the third-ranking Republican in the body, said abortion is an important issue but “the issues that are going to dominate the health care debate are whether we’re reducing costs or whether we’re increasing the costs for most Americans.”

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), who looks to be emerging as a bi-partisan deal-broker on health-care reform, said she prefers the Senate Finance Committee’s language, which she said puts up a “firewall” to prevent the federal funding of abortions.

Collins did add a caveat:

2. "essentially blocks the federal funding of abortions."
Politico's right-wing undergarments are showing. The Stupak amendment does a hell of a lot more essentially than that.

4. They won't have a single bit of praise for any of the full bill. They don't want it to to pass.

It could have guns for all, a 50% tax cut, mandatory execution for liberals, Christianity as the official religion, and more and they would be 'cool to it.'

They know that a bill in just about any form will elect Democrats, especially our President again.

Politico has too much time on its hands.

7. The only reason this amendment was added was for propaganda purposes for
anti-choice bullshit

It has nothing to do with healthcare, and only gives them a forum to spread their control over women's bodies

9. GAO says the HCR bill will REDUCE THE DEFICIT.
It's quite amusing how the republic party doesn't seem to have heard that fact.

In fact, selective hearing (and just totally making shit up) appears to be a republic party way of life.
