Shooter Likely Acted Alone
Fort Hood Prepares for Memorial Service as 16 Victims Remain Hospitalized Sunday

By PETER SANDERS and YOCHI J. DREAZEN

FORT HOOD, Texas -- Army officials said their investigators increasingly believe that Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan was the lone gunman in the carnage that left 13 people dead and 30 wounded at this base last week.

"Right now we're operating on the belief that he acted alone and had no help," said a military official familiar with the Army Criminal Investigation Division probe.

To help settle the question more definitively, the official said, military investigators were trying to determine where Maj. Hasan had purchased his handguns and the large quantity of ammunition used in the attack.

At least one weapon, an expensive semiautomatic handgun, came from gun store Guns Galore in Killeen, where the Army base is located, law-enforcement officials said. A person who answered the phone at the store Friday said it was cooperating with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and had been asked by law-enforcement officials not to comment.

1. Alleged Fort Hood Shooter Frequented Local Strip Club
Alleged Fort Hood Shooter Frequented Local Strip Club
By Jana Winter

Killeen, Texas — The Army psychiatrist authorities say killed 13 people and wounded 29 others at the Fort Hood Army Base Thursday was a recent and frequent customer at a local strip club, employees of the club told FoxNews.com exclusively.

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan came into the Starz strip club not far from the base at least three times in the past month, the club's general manager, Matthew Jones, told FoxNews.com. Army investigators building their case against Hasan plan to interview Jones soon.

"The last time he was here, I remember checking his military ID at the door, and he paid his $15 cover and stayed for six or seven hours," Jones, 37, said.

Hasan's presence at the club paints a starkly different portrait of the alleged killer from that offered by his imam and family members, who have described him as a devout Muslim, and one who had difficulty finding a wife who would wear a head scarf and would pray five times a day.

<snip>

Jennifer Jenner, who works at Starz using the stage name Paige, said Hasan bought a lap dance from her two nights in a row. She said he paid $50 for a dance lasting three songs in one of the club's private rooms on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30.

"I remembered his face because it was the first lap dance I (gave) to a customer while working here," she said. "When I saw his face on TV, I jumped out of bed, I knew it was him."

3. It makes you wonder if this guy knew that story.
If he developed some kind of psychotic identification with it.

19. Exactly. Is there any other confirmation of this story?
If the administration doesn't consider them a news agency, neither to do I.

7. fog of war, probuably people at different locations hearing gunfire
and i mean different locations around the building, you get multiple people calling in and giving different locations where they are (even in the same building) and it can look like you have multiple shooters. One of the reasons when we do active shooter that we control the whole area and everyone is a suspect (reports are not accurate enough on the number of shooters)

8. Just a guess but it's a lot of dead & wounded for just one shooter.
Edited on Mon Nov-09-09 06:01 AM by laststeamtrain
I'm thinking that some of the dead & wounded were the result of 'friendly' fire.

Just a guess.

9. They initially had two other suspects in custody and a third they caught later
All must have been determined to not be involved. This guy sure hit a lot of people with two handguns on his own though.

10. the VA Tech shooter hit a lot of people as well
its not to difficult to fire 30 rounds from two weapons in a matter of seconds, then a quick reload and your good to go again, and if he just used one weapon at a time the accuracy goes way up so it wouldnt be to hard to wound or kill a lot of people in the confines of a building before first responders arrived...

20. The semi-automatic he reportedly used has a 20 round magazine or can upgrade to 30 round mag.

6. I'm pretty sure he had lots of help.
I believe that the US Army spent a lot of taxpayer money teaching him how to shoot people.

14. Then treat those same individuals' PTSD...
Wow, what a great system - at least the dude most likely never did private practice for civilians.

That guy was a prime example of the insanity of war - Constantinople versus Istanbul all inside his own head. Is it any wonder his Hippocratic Oath went by the wayside.

11. I will remain skeptical.
Because it is not the first time they have constructed a story to fit there own purpose.
I think of Jessica Lynch and Tillman....and more.
Even the strip club angle is suspicious to me.

12. So what. There are probably a hundred strip clubs around that base.
Edited on Mon Nov-09-09 06:55 AM by geckosfeet
The military loves the strip club culture. They encourage the businesses to set up shop near base. Tattoo parlors. Strip clubs. Smoke shops. Gun shops.

What a bunch of hypocrites.

It pretty much depends on where the base is located.

21. Are you afraid you would do that if you had a semiautomatic gun, onehandle?
Tens of millions of people own them and never so such a thing.
