Dean Raises $500K On The Net
By Associated Press

6:08 pm EDT July 29, 2003 -- The baseball bat on Howard Dean's presidential campaign Web site may be a gimmick, but it's good for a lot of money.

The campaign raised $508,640 dollars during a

fund-raising push that lasted from Friday through yesterday -- twice the original goal.

...

It was so effective that it was used again to encourage supporters to raise more money for Dean over the weekend than Vice

President Dick Cheney raised at a luncheon yesterday in South Carolina.

The vice president raised about $300,000 from people who gave two-thousand dollars apiece.

The 96-hundred people who gave to Dean since Friday contributed an average of 52-dollars-and-87-cents.

2. The Boston Globe mentioned it
WASHINGTON -- Vice President Dick Cheney got up yesterday morning, boarded Air Force Two and flew to Columbia, S.C., where he rode in a motorcade to a private home, shook hands, and posed for pictures with 150 donors at a luncheon. There he raised $300,000 for the Bush-Cheney reelection committee before flying home.

Over four days ending last night, Howard Dean outdid the vice president -- without leaving his campaign headquarters in Burlington, Vt.... All Dean's staff did was tell their supporters about Cheney's event via the Internet and challenge them to surpass the vice president's total.

3. Yeah, and could you get a more "liberal" paper?
The Boston Globe is way out at the edge of acceptable discussion.

4. 69% think Bush will be re-elected? Yeah, but they dont say it happily. I
have talked with some of those and they say it without hope. That doesn't
mean those people saying it are going to vote for him. Dont forget that!

5. 69% may believe he's going to be re-elected but they say it sadly, that
doesn't mean they're going to vote for him - I've talked to some of those.

They do believe it. but they don't like it.

6. That 69% number is misleading.
It lumps those who say it is "likely" in with those who say it is "somewhat likely."
