GOP boss ads insult to 9/11 families
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/172142p-150002c.html

The head of the Republican Party angered 9/11 families again yesterday by saying only a "small segment ... who are very anti-war" objected to President Bush's use of Ground Zero scenes in his reelection ads.

The father of one 9/11 victim called the comment "insulting."

<snip>

During a voter-registration drive in Washington Heights, Gillespie described those who complained as a "small segment of those who are very anti-war, not only anti-war in Iraq but were opposed to the military removal of the Taliban from Afghanistan."

He cited a press conference by an anti-war group called 9/11 Families for Peaceful Tomorrows and noted the event involved Moveon.org, which is running ads bashing Bush. Several victims' relatives who aren't part of Peaceful Tomorrows disputed Gillespie's claim.

Clyde Frazier, who lost his son, called Gillespie's comments "very insulting."

"I feel terribly bad that they used that ad," he said.

Tom Roger, whose daughter was a flight attendant on doomed American Airlines Flight 11, said most of the families who complained were upset by what they say is Bush's unwillingness to cooperate with the commission investigating the pre-9/11 intelligence.

1. What an arrogrant jerk
Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 07:27 PM by socialdemocrat1981
This is the kind of “get in line or you are a traitor” crap we have been getting from the GOP over the previous four years –to criticize anything that the Dear Leader does essentially means that you are unpatriotic.

The blatant insensitivity and arrogance that people like Rush, Gillespie and * are showing to the families of victims amazes me –even after all we’ve been through with this mis-Administration. May they come to woe this in November

2. Keep it up--Bush is determined to fight with these families
because they had the nerve to ask him some questions. Well, I do not think they are going down cowering under the fascism of Bush and his brown shirts. This is absolutely cheap, blowzy, crass and totally unbecoming a president. And he wants to be elected the next president of the us with these kind of manners and attitudes..Geezus--he will have us immediately in another war, whether we have the money or the troops or anything simply because someone questioned him

I cannot get over this fact that a president actually starts a fight with people like these family members. I cannot get over this--a man who says he is the president, plus the first lady who today joined in the attack on these families, is fighting people over it--and these people lost theri loved ones in the WTC attack.

11. That Is Excellent, Mr. Fenris!
Well worth remembering.

Let us hope The Shameless Mr. Ed continues to attack the families of those killed on that day, for the result of this blitheringly idiotic mis-calculation can only be good for us.

Mr. Ed Theme Song Lyrics
Title: Mr. Ed
By: Ray Evans and Jay Livingston

A horse is a horse, of course, of course,
And no one can talk to a horse of course
That is, of course, unless the horse is the famous Mr. Ed.

Go right to the source and ask the horse
He'll give you the answer that you'll endorse.
He's always on a steady course.
Talk to Mr. Ed.

People yakkity yak a streak and waste your time of day
But Mister Ed will never speak unless he has something to say.

A horse is a horse, of course, of course,
And this one'll talk 'til his voice is hoarse.
You never heard of a talking horse?

Well listen to this.

On edit: Yes listen to this.....

"You fucking son of a bitch. I saw what you wrote. We're not going to forget this." (TYPICAL OF RIGHT WING, MAFIA OR KKK!)

"If you don't stand for anything, you don't standfor anything!"
Gov. George W. Bush said to a packed rally at Bellevue Community College on Tuesday night.

"I'm not going to talk about what I did as a child. What I am going to talk about -- and I am going to say this consistently -- it is irrelevant what I did 20 to 30 years ago. What's relevant is that I have learned from any mistakes I made. I do not want to send signals to anybody that what Gov. Bush did 30 years ago is cool to try."
--Gov. Bush in an interview with WMUR-TV in New Hampshire, when asked if he had used "drugs, marijuana, cocaine"

"If I'm the president, we're going to have emergency-room care,
we're going to have gag orders."

"I think if you know what you believe, it makes it a lot easier to
answer questions. I can't answer your question."
—In response to a question about whether he wished he could take back any of his answers in the
first debate. Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Oct. 4, 2000 (Thanks to Peter Feld.)

"It's a school full of so-called at-risk children. It's how we,
unfortunately, label certain children. It means basically they
can't learn. ... It's one of the best schools in Houston."
So he thinks that "at-risk" means "can't learn?" And that one of the
best schools in Houston is filled with students that can't learn? What an idiot. (Thanks Derek Brandon)

17. You got it!
Possum is it.

Gillespie: former, powerful Enron lobbyist.

Mr. Ed is way too lovable to be cast as Gillespie - "Possum Ed" fits to a tee.

8. Gee, he makes "anti-war" sound bad
Say that reminds me: how many wars did Mr. Ed fight in?

Heck, it seems like ALL of the current administration is anti-war...none of them seemed very anxious to tote an M-16 around.

13. ask Ed about the "fake" firefighters used in the ads
2004 Campaign: A 'Shocking' Stumble

"The controversy over President George W. Bush's new TV ads featuring fake firefighters and fleeting images of the 9/11 attacks threw campaign officials on the defensive—and raised questions about the Bush team's ability to effectively spend its massive $150 million war chest, some GOP insiders say."

"Another less-publicized aspect of the ad flap: the use of paid actors—including two playing firefighters with fire hats and uniforms in what looks like a fire station. "Where the hell did they get those guys?" cracked Harold Schaitberger, president of the International Association of Fire Fighters, which has endorsed John Kerry, when he first saw the ads. (A union spokesman said the shots prompted jokes that the fire hats looked like the plastic hats "from a birthday party.") "There's many reasons not to use real firemen," retorted one Bush media adviser. "Mainly, its cheaper and quicker."

Family members of the victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks will be rallying at Eisenhower Park this Thursday 3/11 at 4:30PM to demand answers to the "unanswered questions" of 9/11.

President Bush will be attending a campaign fundraiser at this time. Organizers have pushed back the start of their rally in deference to family members attending an afternoon ceremony at a future Nassau County 9/11 Memorial for those they lost on 9/11. There is no parking at the site of the Rally. Merrick Ave will be closed due to security concerns. So we recommend all take public transport or have friend drops you off as close as possible to the Stewart Ave. entrance.

DIRECTIONS by Public Transport: >From NYC - take the HEMPSTEAD LIRR train to Hempstead - this is the last stop of the train. The Hempstead bus terminal is across the street. Take bus #35 from Hempstead to Eisenhower Park. In traffic the trip could be 20 minutes. Ask for the stop at the end of Stewart Ave. We have been asked to convene approximately 150 north of the Stewart St. entrance to the Park.*******

"If the president of the United States can find the time to go to a rodeo, he can find the time to do more than one hour in front of a commission that is investigating what happened to America's intelligence and why we are not stronger today," Kerry said.

10. trashing the 9/11 families? how classy!
Meanwhile the Peaceful Tomorrows group have been courteous and dignified throughout. (See their Valentine's Day letter to the White House.) I'm going to send them another donation, just because of this.
http://www.peacefultomorrows.org/letters/valentine2004.htm

And as for implying that families who aren't in that organization are applauding Bush's behaviour on that day ... for one, Melody Homer (widow of LeRoy Homer, the co-pilot of Flight 93) recently stated that she is very upset about the fact Bush did NOTHING and sat in that classroom when he may have been able to save her husband and the others on that plane.

16. All these attacks on the true victims of 911
are making me think more and more the resident cartel is complicit in the events of 911. It appears, now that they are being forced by these families to divulge publically more than they wanted to, they have little to loose by unleashing the sleaze machine and hoping the media can once again do a bait and switch. More signs of desperation by people that are starting to lose track of what lies they told when and to whom. We didn't have the internet when all the reagan era shennanigans were going on - this time the people don't have to rely only on commercial media to learn the truth.
