5. Actually you lost a big one, probably 2
Governors don't vote on national legislation that affects every American like the NY-23 and the CA-10 does. And that NY-23 seat was held by a republican since 1852. Ouch. And only 31% of the country claims to be republican. Goodnight.

11. I've seen reports saying 19 -20% of Americans call themselves republican
Good point about them losing the big one, too.

It was an obvious clarification of a stat that FarLeftFist posted, obvious to anyone who isn't a brainwashed paranoid that is.

You're a perfect example of a typical gullible fool who only has Faux news talking points to bring to the table.

23. So your saying 40% out of the 20% republicans are conservatives.
So less than half of the republicans consider themselves conservative. Wow, your really narrowing down your base to maybe a few thousand people.

25. So basically...
Your saying that out of the 20% of Americans that are republican, 40% are conservatives, which means only about 7% of the country are actually conservatives. No wonder Glenn Beck didn't even show up to his own party.

43. Let me show you how you just OWNED yourself
Recent polls suggest, thanks to other DU'ers fact checking, that only 19-20% of the nation considers themselves republicans. Let's just say 20% , without fact-checking, lets just say that 60% are Dems. We'll also say that an additional 20% are independents but that won't matter for now. So now we have 60% Dems , 20% repubs. Using your math it is quite possible that 20% that claim to be Liberal, which almost always votes Democrat, can actually be a much higher number of people than the 40% of conservatives that always vote republican. 20% of 60% is a higher number than 40% of 20%. The hell with it, YOU ONLY MAKE UP 20% OF THE POPULATION, AND 40% OF THOSE 20% ARE CONSERVATIVE! OWNED!

6. Lol

Haven't you got a birth certificate to find someplace?

Corzine was an incumbent who was not particularly popular. VA was also an uphill race from the beginning on the candidates individual popularity.

NY23 on the other hand, has been deep red since the civil war. Teh crazy lost that one by itself.

27. It's a plot... A plot I tell ya...

Well I guess since white looks kinda stupid on electoral maps, someone arbitrarily ran with the other two colors ON THE US FLAG and used the mnemonic that R stands for both Republican and Red.

But I suppose if one isn't very intelligent, then it's all a nefarious commie plot to make 1/3 of our national colors evil.

28. Seriously my friend, you need to read a bit.
You might start studying the Greek legacy to latin and western culture in general.

After that you might read about the Dark Ages when Rome fell and Christianity rose in Europe. And by the way, most Christians were called conservatives then, too.

You could keep going for a while until you get up the part conservatives tend to know nothing about: the Enlightenment. The increase in rational and scientific thought, the increase in rights for women and for working people in general--the beginning of most that is good from Europe came from (the liberal, not the conservative.) this paradigm.

But God this feels like hard work, doesn't it. It is so much easier, just remember: facism socialism liberalism conservatism right wrong left right red blue...God, I don't know about you but it sure seems easier than thinking to me.

7. Aww, we've got a live one!
Off year elections are always bad for Dems because of lower voter turnout, especially among younger voters and minorities. The future is bright for liberals, while the conservative's only hope is creating machines to keep alive their old, hateful party members as long as possible to keep progress from happening. The demographics all favor liberals and are all growing rapidly in the future. Live in your delusion while you can, it's pretty much all that conservatives do nowadays.

You won from yourselves, Dems were not projected to win those races.

You got us!!

republicans produce and create endless wars, destruction of the middle class, extreme wealth for the top 2% in the country, election of morans that don't know anything but their own twisted idiology....

Hey why don't you go on your conservative right wing sites and pat each other on the back for winning your own races that you already had.

bye...bye..

Oh yea, did you get your poll numbers from Rush..your puppet master who makes more than you will ever make in your liftime.?

20% of Americans identify themselves as Repugs across the nation, those are the facts.

16. This is a message board for lefties
so don't be surprised to find some - gasp - left wing views here. I don't think that DUers represent the mainstream Democratic view, just as RedState.com doesn't represent the mainstream Republican viewpoint.

Corzine and Deeds were both bad candidates and deserve to have lost.

I think your participation is welcomed here, at least by me, but don't go around calling us dumbasses. We have our point of view, you have yours. Many of us own our own companies as well. I'm glad you're here, glad to read your opinions, but you'll get further and be more respected if you don't try to be such a douchebag.

...why then did your heroes Limbaugh, Beck, and Palin get so involved? And why should we not look at the election of a Democrat over a Teabagger in a VERY Conservative district as big news?

Republicans may survive into the new millennium, but your lame-ass reactionary movement is history.
