Ex-NYPD Commissioner-turned-prisoner Bernie Kerik transferred over worrisome psychological symptoms
Source: NY Daily News

Former NYPD Commissioner Bernard Kerik was transferred to a special Westchester County Jail unit after displaying "symptoms" that troubled prison psychiatrists, officials said Friday.

Neither Kerik's lawyers nor prosecutors would discuss the specifics, but Federal Judge Stephen Robinson said there was concern over Kerik's behavior.

"There were symptoms that he displayed that, when combined with circumstances, they felt placed him at risk," Robinson said in a hearing in White Plains.

"Their concerns were not ordinary. There were things described to me that were either said or done that raised a level of concern for them."

1. Bernie knows how to play the system. Play "crazy-like" and get
moved out of noisy general population. He's a crook, not a dope..

7. I believe that jail for a white collar guy
would indeed be devastating and depressing. I can see that suicidal thinking being a real occurrence.

What life changing harm has Bernie done to others to where it's acceptable to encourage suicide or discount the mental illness?

I wish no harm myself.

12. Yet, many white collar guys who were not as familiar with prisons as a Police
Commissioner might be do their time without exhibiting any symptoms of insanity.

Who's encouraging him to commit suicide?

And since when is life-changing harm to others a requirement for doubting the sincerity of someone like Kerik?

19. And quite a few would break like a dropped egg
Your level of shelteredness and/or entitlement going into it would be a factor one way or another. I could see quite a few people pulling a Paris Hilton at the idea of being in prison even if their working environment really doesn't give them an excuse to.

They've seen it all.

17. you got his number.
this is a guy who was also nyc's commissioner of prisons. looked away while his minions looted riker's island prison of some artworks - assuming he didn't plan it in the first place. his psychological problems might have something to do with being incarcerated in the midst of his former corrections dept. clientele.

plus - a graduate of the rudy giuliani school of sympathy whoring.

got a korean girl pregnant while he was an mp in the korean war; then abandoned the girl & his daughter - while spouting the usual con religious babble about a mistake he will always regret & hope that he can make it up to his daughter someday.

the facade might fool some; but this asshole's a piece of work.

3. A former Police Commissioner is scared for his life and acting crazy in prison
I'd be concerned for his sanity if he was acting sane.

8. That GWB tried to make him head of Homeland Security
is the main issue here. It's another indication of the abdication of responsibility that occurred constantly during his eight years in office.

16. True, but on the other hand...
many of us wanted to see John Edwards become president and Joe Lieberman to be vice president under Al Gore. So I guess we can all get judgements wrong on people :)
