Irsay Won't Vote For Limbaugh To Buy Rams

Conservative Commentator Angling To Buy St. Louis Franchise

POSTED: 5:38 pm EDT October 13, 2009

BOSTON -- Colts owner Jim Irsay said he doesn't want Rush Limbaugh to buy the St. Louis Rams.

Irsay said at the NFL owners' meetings Tuesday he wouldn't vote to approve the radio talk show host.

Several players have said they wouldn't want to play for the conservative commentator.

Limbaugh was forced to resign from ESPN's Sunday night football in 2003 after making comments the league felt were racially insensitive.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league doesn't want its owners making divisive statements. But Goodell said he wouldn't judge Limbaugh's prospective ownership because the current Rams owners haven't even said for sure they will sell the team.

2. He's a known drug abuser, unqualified to own an NFL team.

I work in a sports bar and overheard an interview with this guy. I've been trying to put the quotes with a name ever since. I don't think Rush has many fans in the NFL hierarchy.

4. I think Maryland needs to reconsider.

That standing order to Maryland Air National Guard from former Governor Schaefer to shoot down any plane in Maryland Air Space with Irsay on board.

I can see where this can go a long way towards helping Marylanders get over that fateful night in Baltimore. We know how to hold a grudge. You do it tightly until it can't breath anymore. The only thing we hate more than the Colts is Rush Limbaugh.

5. Irsey appears to have given a good amount of contributions to Democrats so
I'm not sure how indicative he is of the general feeling of owners.

This is sort of like Rooney from the Steelers (eventually) saying he won't vote for Rush (which I'm sure probably kills Rush as he claims to be a big Steelers fan).
