Turkey rejects Israel Nato exercise
Source: al jazeera

The Israeli military says Ankara has prevented an annual air force drill in Turkey from taking place because of its demand that there be no Israeli participation.

The annual drill was scheduled to begin on Monday, 12th October, with air forces from the US and Italy.

But according to the Israeli Haaretz newspaper, both Washington and Rome withdrew their participation following Turkey's request to ban Israel from the exercise.

The Israeli military said in a statement that the drill was delayed "indefinitely" because of Turkey's decision ... "not to allow the Israeli air force to take part".

2. By what? Suddenly reversing on International commitments to other countries by canceling excercises

you were picked to host?

Amazing how the idea of civility and diplomacy on the international scale is apparently only scorned when it involves Israel.

8. Well, they didn't exactly cancel a world peace summit, now did they?
They cancelled military exercises, which basically constitute a phallic, primitive show of military power.

Why not just beat on one's chest, like more peaceful primates do?

5. Israel Palestinian conflict
I think a lot of people don't understand the main problem in Israel Palestinian conflict.
The Arbs had in 1948 and still have problem with the Israelis existence in the Middle East.
The settlements are not a problem because if both sides want peace we always can find a creative solution. my pray is that eventually the Arbs will come to the 21 century and will be progress in their way of thinking and they mind, then we will all benefit from it.
For more information you can find here articles of mine about Israel

4. "why are there no Israeli troops in Afghanistan or Iraq?" For good reason.
Edited on Mon Oct-12-09 03:07 AM by Kurska
The presence of Israeli troops in Iraq or Afghanistan would be considered entirely unacceptable to the leadership and people of both countries. You're talking about a situation where most middle eastern countries won't even let Israel's national airlines use the airspace of those nations except via special request, do you really think troop presence would go over well?

What did you think was the reason?

7. Yeah, makes it look that way, doesn't it?
Or is it your leadership that makes it look that way? How many Palestinian homes did your government destroy today? How many new settlements on Palestinian land?

9. Stupid to keep Israel out
I am not sure why Turkey is doing this, they support Israel on practically every other front. They haven't done anything to sanction Israel over what happened in Gaza or West Bank.

This whole ban is so fake.

11. AKP?
Turkey is slowly changing its attitude toward Israel and they are an important actor for the statu quo to be mantained in the Middle East. The AKP is slowly winning the battle against the military kemalist establishment and they will certainly change Turkey's positioning in the region.
