House Votes To Block Guantanamo Transfers To U.S.
Source: mystateline

(Washington, DC) -- The U.S. House has voted to block transfers of detainees to the U.S. from the military facility in Guantanamo Bay.

If it becomes law, the measure would complicate the administration's plan to close the controversial military prison by January 2010.

The House measure was added to a bill that funds the Homeland Security Department.

It received bipartisan support.

The Senate version of the bill doesn't prohibit the transfers.

Differences in the two measures will be reconciled by House and Senate members.

4. they have been tortured - so they are obviously guilty
(we would not torture the innocent)

and we can't have guilty terrorists in the homeland.

5. I haven't heard of a single reason
why they shouldn't be transfered into high security prisons that wasn't completely without logic. Last time I checked Charlie Manson has been locked up for decades without escaping or being broken out, or recruiting others into his family.

8. And Cheney would have engineered something through his connections
Either facilitated a breakout, or facilitated interactions with other extremists on the outside that could be traced back to the prison. He'd be hoping for another attack on US soil. Then he'd go on TV and boast about how he railed against the transfer.

God its scarey to think of Cheney free and even more away from scrutiny, only now he has billions more $ to play with that he stole from taxpayers with his connections to Big Oil and Halliburton in the last 8 years in Iraq. *shudder*

I'm sure that his private hit squads had a hand in the death of Tillman, who would have come back, by all accounts, bad mouthing the war in Iraq and Bush. It would have been hard to just Dixie Chick a guy like that, so they had to take him out permanently.

9. That's a bill that should definitely get the veto pen
Both for the paranoia inspired obstruction of justice,
and the funding of the fascist money suck that is Fatherland Security.
