Bill Clinton Says Right-Wing Conspiracy Now After President Obama
Source: ABC

Former President Bill Clinton says the right-wing conspiracy that attacked him during his presidency now is after President Obama.

When asked whether the "vast right-wing conspiracy" is still present today, the former president answered without hesitation, "Oh you bet."

"It's not as strong as it was because America has changed demographically, but it's as virulent as it was," Clinton said today on NBC's "Meet the Press."

And FOX News and the right wing talking heads are a big part of this conspiracy too.

1. Is it really a conspiracy if they're all howling out in the open about it, I wonder? (nt)

2. Yes. But it is still a statement of the readily obvious.
Of course, many of us thought it was obvious when Hillary said it, and look how they pounced on her.

20. It's the MONEY stupid (no offense intended)
This should be the motto, it's not right wing its the big money interests. We've seen these folks, they exhibit no regard for principle of any sort. They will flex however chasing the interests of the FEW requires. They constantly argue today against what they put forward yesterday. It's not right wing it's GREED. SEE who the enemies to Progressive issues really are. And I haven't even seen Michael's movie yet.

4. I think the conspiracy is making it seem like the attacks are coming from
different places, when they are all orchestrated and funded from one place

6. Who's howling out in the open about it?
It's just Business As Usual for this very large, well-funded operation.

The vast right wing conspiracy, as just about every DU-er knows, is funded by American corporations and people with inherited wealth like Richard Mellon Scaife. It consists of tax-exempt "think tanks" like the American Heritage Foundation. A complete list is here:

http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/right-wing-organization-profiles-index

They have their own national network, Fox News.

They are entrepreneurial in nature, with people like Dick Armey collecting large fees for organizing phony grassroots (known as "turfgrass") organizations.

They are able to martial the ignorant, meaning evangelical Christians and white power types, mostly in the midwest and south.

Go the American Heritage's website and look at their job listings. You'll find paying positions such as this:

Part-time Marketing Consultant/Publicist

The American Enterprise Institute seeks a marketing consultant/publicist on a part-time, contract basis for a new project focused on American values and capitalism.

The project will explore the moral and material nature of a market economy, emphasizing how a market economy creates wealth and both rests upon and encourages traditional moral values. The project’s publications and activities will be disseminated primarily to college students, with a particular emphasis placed on engaging evangelical Christian students in a discussion on the compatibility of morals and markets.

Job responsibilities for the position include helping AEI project management devise and implement a marketing plan for the project and its products. Tasks include, but are not limited to: devising a comprehensive marketing plan for a series of short pamphlets; assisting in the creation of a marketing plan aimed at evangelical students for AEI’s new website, American.com and its blog, Enterprise Blog; and increasing awareness of AEI and its scholars in the evangelical community.

This position requires prior experience in marketing public policy products and ideas to evangelical students. The ideal candidate would also have experience marketing books to this audience.

5. Same pattern of behavior by the right wingers...
These people have so much negative energy they have to lash out at someone... so now it's Obama's turn. Then it will be the gays' turn... might as well throw in abortion soon... Also time for Cheney to fuel them some by talking about Iran and our lack of security... they're going to come and get you... on and on... It gets so damn sickening listening to these fools churn on and on... they feed on hostility, negativism and are useless in making the world a better place for all.

8. I see it at work quite a bit
There's this guy at work who's constantly negative. Complains about just about every damn thing, and once he gets something stuck in his head he can't be talked out of it either. He calls in at least once every few weeks with some excuse as to why he can't be at work. And he loves to spout off Beck/O'Reilly/Hannity talking points to anyone in earshot.

7. Or is it simply an Opposition Party who believes getting and retaining
power by any means necessary. In other words destroy the
party in power. The weaker they make the Democrats appear
the longer they can retain power when they win again.

9. Definitely!!!
Yes, I think what you said is definitely true. These people have little care for America. Greed, power and money are paramount. They don't care how they achieve it... lie, steal, cheat... do whatever is necessary to destroy the party in power and use the ignorant to your advantage. I never cease to be amazed at how the poorer people that support these guys are the ones that really get dumped on by them, and they come back for more. Absolutely astonishing.

19. That part's true . . . but there's deep behind the scenes power . . .
Edited on Mon Sep-28-09 01:30 AM by defendandprotect
which moves the fake prosecutions, the "false flag" stuff -- the

Swiftboatings -- the money and planning for it -- getting people out of their way --

political violence -- stolen elections -- funding for stuff like FreedomWorks...

Damn . . . in Clinton's case they used every means to turn Arkansas upside down and

inside out looking for anything they could find.

And finally used other means to chase him down -- but it took a lot of influence

by powerful rightwing Senators to move a specific judge in place -- etc., etc., etc.

Kenneth Starr was giving up after two years -- they insisted he stay and they finally

chased down Bill with the blue dress!!

Look at Eliot Spitzer -- out of office, they almost have more time and more need for

this kind of play.

11. This is why Clinton went on Larry King...
Clinton was recently on Larry King--totally backing up Obama's decision to
wait-and-see regarding the escalation of troops in Afghanistan. Clinton
explained that this decision was judicious and that Obama was being wise
about giving it some time.

I totally got the feeling that Clinton was backing up Obama and fighting
some kind of forces who want more troops--more war. We all know it's
the ol PNAC/neocon brigade. They got their foothold in Iraq and they
sure as hell aren't going to lose any ground--because some Democrat
doesn't do what they want.

I found it INCREDIBLY interesting (and suspicious) that a few things happened
within 72 hours. That general called for more troops. Bin Laden released a
tape and a few terrorist plots were foiled.

It's as if these bastards still have control and have the power to "wag the dog"--even
when they're not in power.

I think this is exactly what Clinton is talking about. I think he's sick of these
bastards and I think he deeply regrets some of the decisions he made because they
had him by the balls. Look at what they're doing to Obama. They're fomenting
fear--and using the terrorism card--as Obama is making this decision about widening
the Afghan war.

Does anyone else remember the PNAC's Jan 1988 letter to Bill Clinton, asking him to go to
war with Iraq? Those bastards have the cajones to try and dictate American foreign policy
to a Democratic President? Clinton said no. I remember him talking about this and Clinton
said he was unwilling to do it because he was embroiled in the Lewinsky scandal and he didn't
want to give the appearance that he was deflecting attention by starting a war. Gee, I appreciate
that Clinton didn't go along with them--but why doesn't someone tell these corporatist, shapeshifting,
war-for-profit bastards to go screw themselves?
Link to PNAC letter to Bill Clinton: http://www.newamericancentury.org/iraqclintonletter.htm

I think Clinton is speaking the truth--and I think by discussing the "vast right wing conspiracy"
he's telling them to back the hell off. I like that Clinton is sticking up for Obama. I'm sure
those two have had conversations that would blow all of us away.

24. From many accounts, one of the hawks in Obama's adminstration
is Hillary Clinton. If that is really Bill Clinton's position, maybe persuading her could change the balance. Biden, who had been hawkish for a Democratic in the Senate has been the the leader against the hawks.

15. Right on Bill!
When you think about anti-Obama conspiracies the most obvious examples should be Birthers, teabaggers, Fox News, town hall hecklers, and smearers (how many times have right-wing radio hosts and bloggers labelled Obama a "secret Muslim" or "socialist")? And look up Conservapedia's article about Obama, which uses his FULL NAME as its default title!!!

Are the Clintons the ones who invented the term "vast right wing conspiracy" in response to conservative criticisms? Back in 1998, Hillary Clinton (when she was First Lady) first used that term when interviewed by Matt Lauer on the Today show right?
