Bush Ready and Bursting to Bring It On
Edited on Sun Mar-07-04 11:16 PM by kskiska
(snip)

"I don't think there are any major decisions coming out of the campaign that he's not making," said one Republican official close to the re-election effort who did not want to be named for fear of angering Karl Rove, Mr. Bush's chief political adviser, who is overseeing the campaign. "For example, this media buy wasn't decided by Karl. It was decided by the president. You don't have a situation where the president is removed, as maybe his father might have been."

Friends who have talked with the president in recent weeks say he is consumed by the campaign, the polls and Mr. Kerry.

"He knows his voting record cold," said the Republican close to the campaign. Mr. Bush talks to Mr. Rove daily, and sends messages through his political adviser to his campaign staff in Arlington, Va.

Of course, no one in Arlington is suggesting that Mr. Bush scored any knockout punches on the trail his first week, when he got into a public fight with some families of 9/11 victims over the appropriateness of using images of the smoldering World Trade Center, and a flag-draped body, in his advertisements. The families demanded that Mr. Bush pull the advertisements off the air, but he refused to back down.

(snip)

Finally, Mr. Bush may have been in a really good mood this past week because he ignored the annual Gridiron dinner, a 119-year tradition of Washington journalists, for a meeting with President Vicente Fox of Mexico at the Bush ranch in Crawford, Tex.

Mr. Bush, who intensely dislikes such formal inside-the-Beltway events, instead sent Vice President Dick Cheney, who joked that he had become alarmed earlier in the evening over some tightness in his chest, but "then I realized it's called laughing."

I agree, by all means let the little general run his campaign. He's doing brilliant job dealing with the 9-11 widows! And I bet its his idea to accept his nomination from the World Trade Center ground zero. We can only help to hope that Bush :nuke: his chances for re-election!

He has been campaigning nonstop since his appointment by Tony and the gang on December 12, 2000. Almost every week of his maladministration we have been bombarded with stage managed images of him attending different campaign style photo op events in various key electoral regions of the country. These "official events" are conveniently held shortly before or shortly after one of his 2,500 dollar a plate fundraisers. His whole maladministration has been one endless campaign, but the empty snake oil sales shtick gets quite old after a while, particularly now that increasing numbers of people are ceasing to be taken in by the pitchman's shallow gimmickry and starting to refuse to buy the cheap tawdry product that he is selling.

6. or frightened
He might see this as a referendum on the value of his own existence. A true measure of his self worth.

From the begining I have sensed in * a lack of self confidence stemming from a low sense of self worth. If he can get the sheeple to vote him in once and for all, he will have a true victory. One he will claim to have he earned for himself, and not given to him by Daddy or the Supremes.

We may be witnessing a real unraveling here. This is deep psycho doo doo he may be stepping in. And might explain why there have been so many misteps of late. What if he woke up one day and thought to himself "HEY I am the F&^#)#ng President, I can do any dammed thing I want..F Karl and Unka Dick".

One can hope anyway...

29. Exactly
A narcissit is totally insecure and covers it by taking on a belief and outward appearance that they can do no wrong. He is desparately trying to play his part and facing massive dreaded public criticism. The exposure of his insecurity to himself and ultimately to us will be his undoing. Actually, this could be ugly.

Also, kicking widows and orphans must be about as low as you get. They won't give up. I wouldn't either. Even if they can find a few that might stand up for him, most 9/11 people will protect their family member's memories like wild cats.

He doesn't want to lose like daddy. He feels the heat. He's terrified to lose. Remember how they said he never looked at polls?

11. Keep showing the American public
"The families demanded that Mr. Bush pull the advertisements off the air, but he refused to back down."

This is a perfect example of the lack of respect he has for Americans.

Soon the only people that will support him will be the ignorant and stupid. Oh, oh, that's a large number.

The only hope I see is that one of the investigations ongoing will reveal enough to sink him and the VP.

This is simply an attempt to give the impression that he is a "take-charge" cowpoke, and no "tin-horn political consultant is going to run my campaign".

It's easy with this guy. It's all about swagger and smoke and mirrors. Can't wait to see Kerry check him into the glass (in a figurative hockey way).

I'd challenge him to a horse race. I hear that he's afraid of horses. That's strange for a cowboy isn't it?

17. Sniff sniff--do you smell onions?
...Bush campaign officials were instructed...to refer publicly to Senator John Kerry as..."the senator from Massachusetts who has a record of weakening national defense and raising taxes."
Uh, didn't Kerry vote for your war, George? And didn't he actually serve in one while you were AWOL? And haven't you noticed that your tax cuts haven't worked? AND AREN'T YOU ORGINALLY FROM NEW ENGLAND YOURSELF???

"I don't think there are any major decisions coming out of the campaign that he's not making," said one Republican official close to the re-election effort who did not want to be named for fear of angering Karl Rove, Mr. Bush's chief political adviser, who is overseeing the campaign.
Karl's overseeing it, but Bush is running it? I'm glad he's actually taking responsbility for something, but if something (else) backfires, he's got overseer Rove to blame it on. I had to double check to make sure I wasn't reading a story from the Onion.

I have this feeling in my bones that Bush is going to be making some mistakes of Nixonian proportions during this campaign. Even worse ones than he already has. When the blame is inevitably shifted to some unnamed 'campaign staffer', whip out this quote!

You just watch...

THE MAN IS NOT A TEXAN. I REPEAT--NOT. A. TEXAN.

HE IS FROM CONNECTICUT and frigging hijacked his identity. He's about as much a cowboy and rancher as I am a virgin Queen of England.

People need to be reminded that HE is a New Englander just like Kerry.

Only Kerry doesn't deny it. Maybe they should start asking Chucklenuts why he is so embarrassed to be from Connecticut that he started shamming people into thinking he is a Texan? Living in west Texas a few years of your childhood, then going to prep school in Maryland, then Yale, then Harvard, does NOT exactly a Texan make.

Damn carpetbagger.

21. Yeah, it reminds me of Reagan
Whom, reporters regularly had to reassure us, had not fallen asleep in his oatmeal, but then Reagan's administration had to turn around and backpedal, claiming he was firmly in control.

I do believe Dubya is "involved" in his own campaign; "engaged" is too strong a word for his capabilities. But the more shots he calls, the harder he'll fall. I'm rooting for the 'deeply stupid little oil spiv' to come out fighting and knock himself out before laying a glove on his opponent.

Everyone likes to point out Dubya has $200 million to blow on this campaign. What they don't add is that that's ALL he has. Dubya has NOTHING, and pulling $200 million of shit out of his ass is better than anyone could have dreamed of. Dubya's going to put his huge budget to work for us, publicizing his own failures. Once you rip the flag off the bastard, the emperor has no clothes. Happy day. :)

to make it look like bush is engaged and a 'leader'. Personally don't believe a word of it. He skipped the Gridiron dinner because he would have had to be personable and witty-two characteristics he is lacking. It is hard to make a joke with a teleprompter (guess if it tell you how to do the timing it might work)...His arrogance(not pulling the ad when faced with criticism from 9-11 families) will do him in. I do believe people see that if he doesn't talk 9-11 or terror, he doesn't have anything to say!

45. Bumiller--the new outlet for WH spin
Bumiller spun for the WH about a week too when she wrote an article about Bush's body language when talking about the FMA, claiming it proved that he really, really didn't want to discriminate against gays, and that he has a lot of gay friends. It was the same spin I heard a couple of nights later on Charlie Rose--Rich Lowery of the National Review talked about Bush's "body language." (The Daily Howler wrote about Bumiller in a good column last week: <http://www.dailyhowler.com/dh030204.shtml>)

I have tried and tried to find a way to e-mail Bumiller but can't find a link on the NY Times web site. I would love to write to her. What a phony. She also said that ridiculous "You're in New York" line in the debate. I guess a Danish Ohioan has to try harder to sound like she's from NY.

She must view this as her big chance--just like those reporters who led the charge against Gore.

I heard on the news last night about how AWOL has spent a total of 200 days at the pig farm. 200 days out of 3 years is ... lets see carry the one ... toughly 18% of his time in office has been spent on vacation. And that's just at the pig farm.

This does not even include his tax payer fund raising jaunts around the country. AWOL has already spent more time NOT performing the duties of a president in 3 years than Clinton did in 8.
