Yet another civil lawsuit accuses Blackwater guards of driving through the streets of Baghdad randomly shooting innocent Iraqis.

The latest case accuses Blackwater founder Erik Prince of personally directing murders from a 24-hour remote monitoring "war room" at the private military company's Moyock, N.C., headquarters.

Prince "personally directed and permitted a heavily-armed private army... to roam the streets of Baghdad killing innocent civilians," alleges the suit, filed by four Iraqi citizens.

Prince was well aware that his men, including top executives, "viewed shooting innocent Iraqis as sport," the suit says. In fact, "those who killed and wounded innocent Iraqis tended to rise higher in Mr. Prince's organization than those who abided by the rule of law."

Prince's top executives openly discussed "laying Hajjis out on cardboard" and "bragged about their collective role in killing those of the Islamic faith," the suit alleges.

Fatal shootings of 14 Iraqis came after security contractor put on notice about earlier violence.

Federal authorities had warned Blackwater that its private security employees had committed violent acts against innocent Iraqi civilians long before a 2007 shooting incident that killed at least 14 people, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday in Wake County.

The Charlotte law firm Lewis & Roberts is representing the families of several Iraqi civilians killed or injured, including 9-year-old Ali Kinani, who was fatally shot in the head as his father drove near a roadblock.

The suit contains new details about the Sept. 16, 2007, shootings in Nisoor Square in Baghdad. The incident strained U.S.-Iraqi relations and remains a flashpoint over the use of private contractors in the war.

In 2005, the suit says, a Blackwater employee shot and killed an Iraqi civilian standing on the side of the street and attempted to cover it up. Six months later, a Blackwater employee shot an unarmed civilian in the head, the suit claims.

The U.S. government warned the contractor about its workers' actions, but “Blackwater-Xe failed to take reasonable measures to address and curtail the unlawful and reckless conduct,” the suit reads.

Prior to shootings that killed 17 people, the federal government warned Blackwater security that its employees had committed violent acts against innocent Iraqi civilians, a lawsuit filed Tuesday alleges.

A Charlotte law firm filed the suit, which contains new details about the Sept. 16, 2007, shootings in Nisour Square in Baghdad. The incident strained relations between the United States and the Iraqi government and remains a flashpoint over the use of private contractors in the war.

Attorneys from Lewis & Roberts claim that Moyock, N.C.-based Blackwater, now called Xe Services, failed to take action against its private security guards who randomly shot Iraqis well before the Nisour Square incident. The firm is suing Blackwater on behalf of several Nisour Square victims and their families.

In 2005, the suit says, a company employee shot and killed an Iraqi civilian standing on the side of the street and attempted to cover it up. Six months later, an employee shot an unarmed civilian in the head, the suit claims.
