Palin comes out in support of Fox's Beck over boycott

WASHINGTON — Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is jumping into the fray over Fox News talk show host Glenn Beck, whose assertion last month that President Barack Obama is "a racist" led to a boycott of the companies advertising on his show, and ultimately, led some to drop their sponsorship of his show.

Palin on Wednesday had this to say on Facebook, the social networking Web site that, since she stepped down as governor, has been the former Republican vice presidential candidate's main platform for communicating: "FOX News' Glenn Beck is doing an extraordinary job this week walking America behind the scenes of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and outlining who is actually running the White House.

"Monday night he asked us to invite one friend to watch; tonight I invite all my friends to watch."

Palin is referring to Beck's attack this week on the background of Van Jones, who the Los Angeles Times describes as "a White House environmental advisor and co-founder of an African American political advocacy group that organized an advertising boycott of his program."

6. We can only hope.
The GOP needs to keep her as their top option. In 2012 with her running for President that will more than likely give Obama 4 more years in the White House.

12. Backing up that deranged blowhard will only make her more irrelevant
If Palin truly believes that she is a future presidential contender, she is doing absolutely nothing to improve her prospects. Coming across as a bigger flake than she already appeared to be by resigning her position as governor, then posting that crazy bullshit about death panels on Facebook... now coming to the defense of one of the nastiest (Michael Savage may have him beat) and probably the craziest talk show hosts on the loony right fringe? She's making all of the right moves to win Repug primaries in 2012... and then get creamed as a general election candidate.

14. Welcome to DU
however, a word of caution. I've been ripped on (and had a thread locked) over using that accurate description of Sarah Palin before. Some hackles are too easily raised, so keep an eye out for that.

4. Nothing confers legitimacy and gravitas like a Palin endorsement
Oh, wait, it's Sarah Palin, the former governor of Alaska?

I thought it was Michael Palin, from Monty Python.

Nevermind.

9. She's the Edsel of the Republican Party.
Frankly, the porn star that portrays her in that movie would probably give me a better discussion of politics over dinner than Palin.

23. Just maybe, the rethuglicans are content to let her be as idiotic
as she can possibly be. So come election time, they can rally behind a less insane candidate. Kind of setting the bar real low, so to speak.
