Cheney Slams Obama Administration for Opening Investigation of CIA Interrogators
Source: ABC News

Former Vice President Dick Cheney slammed the Obama Administration for its decision to appoint a prosecutor to review and investigate whether CIA interrogators violated US torture statues and questioned its ability to protect the nation’s security.

“President Obama’s decision to allow the Justice Department to investigate and possibly prosecute CIA personnel, and his decision to remove authority for interrogation from the CIA to the White House, serves as a reminder, if any were needed, of why so many Americans have doubts about this Administration’s ability to be responsible for our nation’s security,” the former vice president said in a statement Monday.

Cheney said the intelligence gained from interrogations of terror suspects “saved lives and prevented terrorist attacks.”

“The people involved deserve our gratitude. They do not deserve to be the targets of political investigations or prosecutions,” he said.

42. But golly, he is a world leader in war profiteering.
As Secretary of Defense he pushed privatization of military services. As CEO of Halliburton he reaped the rewards of that work. Then as head of the Bush-Cheney Junta he continued his privatization to extreme levels which have generated extreme profits for his friends.

Never mind that he seriously damaged our national security; he took care of number one-- the financial security of his associates.

This whole thing involves a very small number of rouge elements within the neocon cesspool.
The vast majority of agents are as horrified and embarrassed as the rest of the country.
No, absolutely NO, evidence has come forward to date supporting Dick's assertion of lives saved.
We live the greatest country the world has ever known due to our adherence to strict moral principals when it comes to human rights.
Dick and his friends betrayed us all.

41. Suddenly all that noise-making a few months ago makes sense, no?
And here's some of the noise I was making at the same time:

I believe (and I choose that word carefully) that the Bush Administration operated a massive program of kidnapping, torture, and eventual execution of thousands of Iraqi citizens. I believe that Cheney's public efforts are designed to stabilize a base of public support for himself now, before the exposure of that program. The torture is part of a ball of yarn that unravels to something far darker and larger than most Americans dare to imagine.

49. This is precisely the reason why Obama handled the matter in the manner he did
The decision to investigate and prosecute was placed in the hands of the DOJ...and solely in their hands. That is how it is supposed to be done. He has insulated the administration from the decision, but through has actions has reinstated a separation of powers. He is brilliant so don't every make assumptions on anything he does until a matter is brought to conclusion..that includes health care reform.
