W. Va. U. Reroutes (Republican) Voter Registration Rig
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Reggie the Registration Rig is too big -- and too political -- for the streets of West Virginia University.

The new Republican Party bandwagon is a 56-foot, 80,000-pound rig designed for registering voters. It bypassed Morgantown on Friday after WVU officials turned down an offer to be its first host. That honor went to Marshall University in Huntington.

WVU does not sponsor political events, said Becky Lofstead, a university spokeswoman. Plans for hosting Reggie were more than the College Republicans chapter could handle, she said.

"It would have required parking the vehicle on Maiden Lane," Lofstead said. "That would have blocked off the street. We would have needed parking and extra security staff."

6. I wonder...
...have they had any affirmative action bake sales at WVU yet? Or did the CRs decide that was tired, so they went for THIS instead?

8. The best response that the university should had used would be...
We support voter registration and will allow space on campus provided it is non-partisan. Meaning that someone from each party would man a table in the same location. Possibly also providing space from those of other parties or those that are independent.

Another consideration would be that no bumper stickers or other paraphanalia be allowed. That though might be permitted including a sign-up sheet for those that want to volunteer.

11. ya know... they're searchin' the trucks real good these days...
There are a lot of trucks and vans being pulled over and searched....
Couldn't there be a few friendly state troopers who'll pull this rig over for a nice leisurely search... we want you to be real thorough, of course.

12. How typically
effin' Republican. A big, obnoxious gas hog, polluting the air and tearing up roads for pure partisan politics.
