Ugandan king sues Britain for a trillion pounds
A Ugandan king is demanding a trillion pounds in compensation from the British monarchy for decimating the population of his kingdom in the late 1890s, a spokesperson for the king said on Thursday.

Solomon Gafabusa Iguru, head of Uganda's Bunyoro kingdom, also accuses British soldiers of plundering property, cattle and crops from his land during the British military occupation from 1894 to 1900.

Though military occupation ended in 1900 the British remained as a colonial power in Uganda until 1962.

In a lawsuit, to be filed with The Hague-based International Court of Justice this month, and with the British Commission in Kampala, he claims that British colonial forces wiped out Bunyoro's two-million-strong population in just six years.

1. A good idea, but unfortunately I don't see much coming of it.
Just about every third world nation on earth has grounds for a suit like this, and if this was allowed to succeed, it would set a precedent for the bankrupting of every Western nation.

I think this suit will put to light that the criminal court in the Hague is a good idea, but that it can never be impartial because it will always be controlled by the Western nations.

2. Perhaps Native Americans should sue the U.S. on the same grounds.
That is if the U.S. were accountable to world courts.

3. The US already gives concessions to the Native Americans
Free college tuition amongst others, but granted it's a pittance compared to what they've lost. Of course their actions would have as much of a chance as the Ugandans, zero. After all, look at what the US has given as far as reparations for slavery.

4. I think they need to get in line behind the Irish....
this sort of lawsuit has no hope of success anyway.
