Court docs: Octomom inks showbiz deal for tots
Source: Yahoo

LOS ANGELES - Octuplet mother Nadya Suleman has signed agreements for each of her 14 children to earn $250 a day to star in a reality television show.

The contracts filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court guarantee the children will collectively earn about $250,000 over three years. The contracts require a judge's approval.

European production company Eyeworks has inked the deal with Suleman. Eyeworks lists "Breaking Bonaduce" and "The Biggest Loser" among its television credits. The show is slated to begin filming Sept. 1, according to the documents.

The payments outlined in the contracts say Suleman's kids will collectively earn $125,000 for 36 days of shooting in the first year of production, $75,000 for 21 days in the second year and $50,000 for 14 days in the third year. Any extra shooting days will be compensated at the same rate.

So Octopussy scores big and will live high while leaving only 15% in trust for the kids. Poor kids :(

16. I doesn't sound like alot
until you look at how many actual days of shooting they actually do. I thought the same thing when I heard it at first.

At the same time, she is an attention whore so she would probably have done it for free anyway.

2. I have nothing but disdain for this woman...
Is there no way to ensure this money can only go to the care of these children? This travesty is approaching the levels of the Michael Jackson saga. I would hate for each of these children to be as exploited and permanently damaged as Jackson clearly demonstrated.

3. It's time to toughen up the Jackie Cooper laws
:grr:

Cut the parents off completely from the money stream once the kid(s) reach a certain level. No more Manager/Agent Mommy or Daddy who'd rather make their kids work their asses off than get real jobs. Too many screwed up & broke kid stars thanks to money-grubbing parents who viewed them as meal-tickets, took all their money, & left a mess behind once the kids hit 18.

5. Why can't sensible Americans just agree not to watch this crap?
If Nielsens show no one is watching, maybe the cable networks will stop exploiting unfortunate children whose only sin was accidentally being born in batches to tacky, idiot parents!

GOD! We lose wonderful, inventive shows (like "Pushing Daisies" (RIP)) and get this kind of shit to replace it.

9. I think that's what will ultimately happen anyway
The show might attract a limited audience that will probably lose interest fairly quickly.

At least I hope so.

Too bad the poor kids have to suffer because their stupid mother was/is an asshole.

12. "sensible Americans" -Ha, thats laughable
It is our collective addiction to celebrity culture that fuels this kind of crap. If we had "sensible americans" we certainly would not have elected (I mean appointed) bush to office.

14. As soon as circulation rates drop
for People magazine and the supermarket tabloids, then I will expect that Americans will not be a target market for this crap.

No chance of that happening anytime soon.

That's where your line of thinking falls just a bit short.

24. I'm not assuming most Americans are sensible. But aren't there enough sensible Americans to affect
the ratings? If they're aren't, well, then you'll find me under the covers, listening to old Garrison Keillor tapes.

I wouldn't hold my breathe waiting for any "rescue".

22. I agree... people do not think about that aspect
as long as there are people willing to be entertained or interested in tragedies like this, the media will keep offering it. It would be one thing if it were a voluntary study, but we all know it's not about science.

Anyone who watches her show is enabling her behaviour. But why are you surprised? It should have been obvious from the start that she doesn't mind exploiting those kids. Shame shame shame!
