(Rep. John) Conyers wants criminal probe of Bush 'abuses'
Source: AP

WASHINGTON — The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee on Friday urged Attorney General Eric Holder to appoint a special counsel to examine potential abuses by former President George W. Bush's administration.

Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., said in a speech to the National Press Club that Holder "must appoint a special counsel to review the Bush administration abuses of power and misconduct. A criminal probe — he's got to do that."

Conyers' committee has sought an investigation of Bush administration moves criticized by Democrats, including its methods of interrogating foreign detainees, use of warrantless wiretaps, alleged retribution against critics, and allegations that officials intentionally misused intelligence.

He said the criminal probe should be accompanied by a "9/11-type panel" to gather facts and make recommendations on preventing the misuse of power.

3. And, YOU, Mr. Cowardyers,
should have convened impeachment hearings for the sons of bitches. I agree that Holder should do that now, but YOU saying of Holder, "he's got to do that," after YOU failed to do what was your duty to the Constitution just rings hollow.

Fucking coward.

How does anyone plan to get actual justice without calling the crimes by their actual names?

America committed war crimes. Fucking deal with it. Prosecute the fuckers already.

12. Again?? We should start a Rep. John Conyers drinking game.

 If he calls for a Congressional Inquiry into the Abuses of the Bush Administration, we sip our beers.

 If he calls for an independent 9-11-type panel we finish a half-glass.

 If he subpoenas Carl Rove, Dick Cheney, John Woo, Donald Rumsfeld, John Ashcroft or Alberto Gonzales we down the whole glass.

 If they ignore the subpoena, can't remember a damn thing or only give their testimony in a closed-door hearing, we add a shot of sake, and then finish the glass.

:toast: If he says that the attorney general should/must appoint a special prosecutor, we chug a pitcher each.

:headbang: If any of those torturing murderous shits from the Bush administrating is indicted, we go into rehab.

:grouphug: If there's ever a conviction, we're dry for life.

All through the Bush years, Conyers has tried in vain to investigate the evil affairs of these criminals without much support from other Democrats. Somebody somewhere, please, please, help him!

25. I absolutely wanna see Bushies face the music, but why now?
I remember telling myself how mad I was going to be if and when this issue resurfaced closer to an election, and if we go through the panel process, as Conyers is suggesting, the timing will just about be right for that kind of scenario.
I really am tired of having to be so skeptical about every little move every one in Washington makes. If that turns out to be the case, where doing the right thing had to wait until a more beneficial moment, that would make the dems as sleazy as the rebuttlecans in my book.

I believe Vincent Bugliosi may have had the right idea when he suggested people swarm the offices of their local district attorney about the murder of our soldiers. Create a ground swell that the justice department and the executive branch can't politically afford to ignore. Once a single tomato is allowed to be thrown, slam 'em with the whole cart.

And in 2010, when voting, consider this: Bi-partisan politics is not in the best interests in the American public because it is simply too divisive. More independents in office is imperative if we are to take our country back from these two destructively adolescent clicks.
