U.S. Marines Block Rebels Chasing Aristide Supporters
More of Bush's dispicable mess.

<clips>

Port-au-Prince, Haiti (AP) - American forces are lending a helping hand to officials affiliated with Haiti's exiled president.

Marines are on guard at the airport in Port-au-Prince, blocking rebels from getting to officials from Jean-Bertrand Aristide's party.

The U.S. forces have also shifted policy - and will now protect Haitian civilians from retaliatory attacks by rebel forces.

Meantime, rebels and Aristide loyalists had a shootout in a Port-au-Prince slum that was an Aristide stronghold. There was no sign of U.S. or French troops stepping in to intervene.

1. That's a switch.
I wonder if General Pace had to slap Rummy around to get permission to fight?
