Leg-cutting funeral home to close
Source: BBC News

A judge in the US state of South Carolina has ordered the closure of a funeral home where an employee cut off the legs of a 6ft 7in (2m) body.

The worker used an electric saw to sever James Hines's legs at the calf to make his body fit the coffin in 2004.

The owner had contested the revocation of his licence, saying he was absent when the incident happened and pointing to an otherwise unblemished record.

But after a brief hearing, the judge confirmed the business should close.

2. It became known 4 years later after a whistleblower told the cops
"The admission came after a former employee told police about the incident, four years after it happened."

:wow:

3. And, of course, this is in SC
Though funeral home horror stories can and do happen anywhere. Still, it looks like SC is the new FL.

13. I'm still at a loss as to why this was a problem.
1) the guy is dead

2) the guy can't use his legs anymore

3) better to have a shorter coffin than no coffin at all, right?

possible problems...

1) if he rises from the dead, he won't be able to walk

2) when he gets to heaven he will need a wheel chair. I haven't heard of heaven is ADA compliant.

3) were those his legs or someone else's?

... that should be done in all cases, to minimize the damage from potential zombie attacks.
