Madison City Council Calls Ban On Gay Marriage 'Discrimination'

MADISON, Wis. -- The Madison City Council joined the nationwide discussion on gay marriages by calling Wisconsin's ban an act of discrimination.

City council members voted 10-2 last night in support of urging the state legislature and governor to amend the state Constitution. Both community members and aldermen had the chance to voice their opinions.

"This will be the first time in 130 years that we've enshrined discrimination into our nations highest document of law," said District 8 Alderwoman Austin King who voted in support of the resolution.

Well, everyone pretty much knew the City Council felt that way, but here in Madison we always like to get it in writing.
