Kerry Cements Nomination; Edwards Out
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=694&ncid=703&e=1&u=/ap/20040303/ap_on_el_pr/democrats

John Kerry (news - web sites) cemented the Democratic presidential nomination, driving rival John Edwards (news - web sites) from the race with a string of Super Tuesday triumphs that left the Massachusetts senator standing alone against President Bush (news - web sites).

"I hope we can have a great debate about the future of our country and the direction our nation needs to go," Kerry told The Associated Press, before declaring to supporters, "Tonight, the message could not be clearer all across this country: Change is coming to America."

Dominating all comers, Kerry won 24 of 27 elections in every region of the nation since the primary season began six weeks ago — from Edwards' Southern strongholds to the jobs-poor Midwest states of Ohio and Michigan to the growing Southwest battleground of Arizona and to his own New England base.

In state after state, Democrats said their top priority was a candidate who could defeat Bush, a wartime president with a $100 million-plus campaign treasury. Kerry, a decorated Vietnam veteran, won an overwhelming number of their votes, and now leads a relatively united party against Bush.

1. The Next Step...
...is to continue uniting behind Kerry and joining forces to take on the common enemy, George W. Bush.

2. Oh well. hold your nose and vote for the same old, same old...war war
and more war. Now Kerry knows both wars were trumped up farces based on lies. He has no plans to stop it but plans to accelerate it. Same old shit.

7. Kerry "plans to accelerate it"?????? I take offense at that, madam.
Why would you say such a thing?

3. What the corporate media is missing IMO
is the disgust on the left about Dean being driven from the race, Clark marginalized, and Dennis absolutely ignored. I am so tired of voting for the lesser of two evis, and here I am, once again faced with that probability.

Kerry is a chimp enabler. He voted to enable the chimp to kill Iraqis and steal their oil. He voted to curtail civil liberties when he voted for the Patriot Act. He voted for the chimp's stupid initiative turning school kids into standardized test takers. This is the best we can come up with?

I intend to see how the race shapes up in CA. Only if it looks close, will I hold my nose and vote Kerry. I suspect I'm not alone.

4. I suspect you're more alone than you think
There was record turnout at the Democratic primaries this year, and those that came out have come out fairly strongly for Kerry. I honestly believe you will be one of the few staying at home in November.

And I say that as someone who will be voting for Kucinich in the PA primary.

10. I despise the chimp, and will do what's necessary to see him defeated.
That said, I cannot and will not enthusiastically support Kerry. He gets my vote ONLY if CA is close. (Actually I hope it isn't. I truly hate the thought of selling out.)

11. You miss the point
the Democratic Party is united as never before. Even in Vermont, the only state not to go for Kerry, a large majority of exit pollees said they'd be happy with a Kerry candidacy. Kerry is a very good candidate, but he's not the issue. Bush is.

6. One, who shares the profits...
of the wars to come.
I guess, I should buy Deutsche Bank, Daimler and VW shares. Or run away.

Now, all you Kerry-supporters: tell me, what will change, when the democrats win and Kerry becomes the president:
Tell me: Kerry will do this, and I'm 100% sure, he will...

I just want to save this thread and read it again in 2 years.

Hello from Germany,
Dirk

12. Kerry was not my first choice BUT I will stand behind him because
We HAVE to get Bush out of DC!!!!!!!!! Frankly, as I posted in another thread, I'm a wee bit uneasy about this election. We are all excited that the truth is coming out and Bush is being revealed as a Sociopath..........but what if Kerry can't beat him in the upcoming rounds with GW? I'm excited and paranoid at the same time. It's hell at my house.

I figure we can hold Kerry's feet to the fire once he's "in" and begin to think about who comes AFTER him....Gawd, I hope we don't see another repuke in office for many years to come.

Kerry may not be perfect but he can stem the tide a bit while we continue to work for real democracy.
