Swiss bust child pornography ring (spanning 78 countries)
Source: BBC

Swiss police say they have uncovered an internet child pornography network spanning 78 countries and involving at least 2,000 IP internet addresses.

An inquiry was launched after a tip-off from Interpol about a website based in Switzerland being used as a forum for illegal child pornography films.

The site was officially devoted to hip hop music but was used to access videos of child pornography via secret codes.

The site designer was unaware of how it was being used, Swiss media report.

1. You would think...
...that some of these brainiacs would have learned to disguise their IP addresses before getting involved in all this rot.

Criminals do tend to be on the dumb side...

10. No, but the way society has changed has created more - how many
generations does a family in the US (or many of the developed countries) have to go back to find a relative who was a bride at 13-15? For most families, 3 or 4 generations would be about all.

We obviously understand the damage from this now and have passed laws against it, but at the time, it was generally accepted and in some cultures encouraged.

In less developed areas, much less taboo against it. Didn't the clerics rule to let a marriage to a 9 year old stand as valid in one of the Middle Eastern countries just a few weeks ago?

11. 13-15 years old equals physical puberty thus
would not technically or medically be considered pedophilia regardless of our opinion or societal norm. When people die at 40... 20 is middle aged.

pedophilia /pe·do·phil·ia/ (-fil´e-ah) a paraphilia in which an adult has recurrent, intense sexual urges or sexually arousing fantasies of engaging or repeatedly engages in sexual activity with a prepubertal child.pedophil´ic

8. Pornography is growing, it's addictive.
"The site designer was unaware of how it was being used, Swiss media report."

Seems awfully negligent to not know about this on your site.

9. Thank you to the Swiss police for doing an outstanding job..
and setting a standard for all police everywhere to live up too. Right now..you Swiss are the #1 best police on the planet.
As to the site designer not knowing how the site was being used, that is not so terribly strange.
People get paid to design sites for other people all the time. After you design the site, you give it to the person that paid for it and go design another.
Just because you designed a site, doesn't mean you are the one to "police" that site.
That would be like demanding the people that design a camera are responsible for all the pictures taken with it.
Site design is a product now days.
