Republican senator won't meet with Sotomayor
Source: CNN

From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney

Inhofe has said he will vote against Sotomayor.
(CNN) — As Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor continues to make the rounds on Capitol Hill, at least one senator is refusing to meet with her.

Sen. James Inhofe, the Oklahoma Republican who previously voted against Sotomayor's current post as a federal appeals court judge, told the Tulsa World Thursday it is a "foregone conclusion" that he would not support Obama's pick for the high court.

"If you voted against anyone on the circuit , I have never been able to see how you turn around when the bar is actually higher and support it at a higher level," Inhofe also said.

So when it came time for Sotomayor to meet with Inhofe to discuss her judicial philosophy, the Oklahoman declined.

2. To vote against her after having met and discussed her judicial philosophy/career is one thing
To simply refuse to even speak with her about the matter, and state it's a "foregone conclusion" you'll not support Obama's pick is partisan politics at their very worst.

It doesn't hurt to be polite and to talk with her even if he votes against her. It just shows what a small person he is. Hope Oklahoma will find him less than worthy to represent that great state and vote for someone else next time.

At some point, it does become going through the motions, I imagine.

Still, it seems disrespectful, at the very least.

52. As I'm sure you know these meetings are to discuss their judicial decisions
All the decisions she's made since whenever he may have met with her in the past would be open to discussion.

Instead questioning her on her decisions like a mature, responsible legislature he's crossing his arms and pouting like a two year old refusing to eat his vegetables because someone told him they're good for him.

How very mature of him. Now, by his reasoning, you can never change your vote for any judge as they rise. Sotomayor has been confirmed twice, so three is mandatory, right?

Thanks, Senator Ein Hauf.

27. That's the saddest, most depressing part of all: he IS representing them
he has been repeatedly elected and re-elected by overwhelming majorities; in his most recent re-election to the senate, he beat his opponent by a margin of just short of 20%...he's now been a senator for 14 years after being a congressman from 1987-94, and mayor of Tulsa before that. Somebody's out there ( and I do mean OUT THERE) voting for this ignorant lunatic time and time again. Sad to say, its obvious to me that he IS representing his constituents. And with all apologies to the many good, intelligent citizens of Oklahoma, there are apparently one hell of a lot of voters there every bit as ignorant and racist as this POS. As always, he's just the symptom more than he's the disease; the disease being those that keep electing all the Inhofes, Bachmanns, Pences, Palins ( 57 MILLION Americans, of their own free will, voted for her to be a heartbeat away from the presidency---that fact , despite Obama's victory, should scare the living snot out of everybody ) ad nauseum ( and nauseating). His OK. senate counterpart, the equally insane Tom Coburn , won his last election by a solid 12 % too....As long as there are dumbfucks by the millions to vote for the James Inhofes of the world, the James Inhofes will keep running for office.

31. I wish that was true
Sorry, but Oklahoma is rapidly becoming the place where right-wing extremists go to hang out, meaning that Inhofe's a hero to most here. Sorry about that. We tried. The man's a drunk with highly obnoxious kids that run ragged everywhere, getting off literally (from the cops) and metaphorically (massive enjoyment), meaning Inhofe offends on both a real-world and Plato's Cave level, which makes him the worst Senator of all.

Unless it's his idiotic co-Senator, Tom don't-let-girls-go-to-the-bathroom-in-school-with-each-other-or-they'll-become-lesbians-and-also-performed-an-unwanted-abortion Coburn. Think about the mentality of people who would vote for him.

But back to our regular programming. In 2007, Sen. Boxer put Inhofe in his place better than anyone could.

In a way, he did her a favor. She didn't have to shake his hand and then waste her time talking to him.
Who knows, she is probably relieved that she didn't have to talk to such a dick.

But that still doesn't excuse his "dickiness".

He didn't know her judicial philosophy when he voted against her for the appeals court.
Bill Clinton nominated her and that was enough for him to vote no. Barack Obama has nominated her and that is enough to vote
against her. I'm betting that he will vote against every judicial nomination for the next four years.

I'll say it again, he's a dick.

50. I think the Franken experience has emboldened the wingers
just like Election Theft 2000 showed them that they could steal again in 2002 and 2004, their ability to just plain deny a seat to a duly elected Senator, leaving the Senate with 99 members just because no one will do anything about it, has proven that they can pretty much do whatever they want. I am leaning more toward the belief that neither Sonia nor Al will ever be seated.

We're desperately in need of a revolution
