Space commission to tout Bush plan
Panel will seek support in four cities

With the nagging issue of cost largely unaddressed, strategists will strike out across the nation this week to foster support for President Bush's plan to reinvigorate the exploration of space with human missions to the moon and then to Mars.

The President's Commission on Moon, Mars and Beyond plans hearings in four cities over the next two months, starting with Dayton, Ohio, on Wednesday and Thursday.

Since its unveiling Jan. 14, the Bush vision has been greeted with skepticism in some key arenas.

At a Feb. 9 commission hearing in Washington, former Lockheed Martin Co. president and federal official Norm Augustine warned the commission not to tackle the ambitious plan "on the cheap."

Is Richard Perle (or his equivalent) heading this commission ? ..
