1. Listening now. This is some frightening. Kidnapped at gun-point by USMC
Edited on Sun Feb-29-04 07:20 PM by Tinoire
by US marines.

Supposedly up in a plane for the last 15 hours? Incommunicado?

I'm just grateful his children are out of the country :(

Abducted at 2 in the morning by American forces and packed off to somewhere we don't know. We have no idea where they are. They have not arrived in South Africa and South Africa had never been contacted for asylum. We have no idea where they are (Aristide & his wife)

Mildred Aristide who just last night was reiterating that under NO circumstances would they leave and hand their country over to thugs and killers armed by the United States.

3. My guess as to the whereabouts of Aristide, his wife, and officials

they've been executed.

or, they are in Haiti somewhere being held, OR

... they have been taken to Guantanamo Bay.

10. If they are on a US carrier, why can't they make a statement?
why can't Aristide make a statment? He's obvioulsy being prevented from doing so, or else he and/or his wife or officials would have made a statement already.

sounds like Hugo Chavez and the coup in Venezuela all over again.

15. Call the press
Demand that they stop talking of Aristide's "resignation" until we can hear directly from Aristide himself. It's clear from listening to Democracy Now!, from people who talked to Aristide and his wife multiple times every day up until yesterday, that Aristide would not have resigned. He is still missing, and it is reported that the US Marines actually kidnapped him and took him out of the country.

This is a major travesty of justice that US imperialism is carrying out before our eyes, yet the media is completely missing the real story.

"Haiti Under Siege" is on Live on Pacifica.

The mainstream media would not report on Prescott Bush's directorship of finance companies managing Germany's munitions industries, long before and after US entrance into WWII, when the said company's assets were seized under US Trading with the Enemy Act. Business as usual.

Keep them coming...this is sounding very bad...but not surprising unfortunately. I hope Astride is actually allowed safe haven somewhere but I don't know what to think. If he was in handcuffs, that sounds bad for him.

When will the US back off and let these countries alone? Is Bush Jr out to avenge every imagined slight to his father? Does the GOP have to try to undo EVERY act of Clinton?

Bah on the lot of them. Hope they (the commander-in-thief and his minions) all felt good after their various church services today...hypocritical bastards.

47. I saw video of what appeared to be Canadian armed forces at the airport
Edited on Mon Mar-01-04 01:24 AM by eablair3
and the French were supposedly there, too. Don't know if the reports are accurate though.

the video of the Canadians was on either the CBS or NBC national news.

they also had video of the US Ambassador to Haiti telling how Aristide "resigned" and decided to leave supposedly for the good of Haiti. Everyone who has been on Pacifica/KPFA who has talked to Aristide and his wife said they were adamant even yesterday about never ever leaving. And, then they had a video clip of what appeared to be some Haitian puppet read a "prepared statement" attributed to Aristide saying he resigned and left voluntarily.

If he left voluntarily, ... why can't we see him live on TV, and why can't we hear him give a live statement?

Most on here know the reason.

48. Transcript - US Ambassador to Haiti on CBS Ntional News
I typed this up with the help of my tivo, ... pretty amazing statements on the national news broadcasts.

CBS Narrator (with video of plane taking off): "Before most Haitians even woke up, just before daybreak, this plane carried President Aristide into exile, pressure to flee by Washington and others in the international community."

Cut to Clip of US Ambassador to Haiti James Foley, who stated this wrt to Aristide: "... It was a patriotic gesture. It could begin to heal the country. It could begin to calm the situation. It could begin to encourage people rapidly to stop the violence, and he felt that this was his responsibility."

The "opposition paramilitaries" were shown in brand new uniforms with new guns and new army helmets. Doesn't any of these mainstream media ask who financed and paid for all these new weapons and uniforms for these thugs?

Then to cap it off, ... Bush comes on in a clip and says "I urge the people of Haiti to reject violence. To give this break from the past a chance to work. And, the United States is prepared to help."

Then they cut to a clip of Colin Powell getting out of a car and the CBS Narrator says: "The U.S. has already taken on a lead role. It was the White House's firm push that finally propelled Jean Bertrand Aristide out of Haiti. Secretary of State Powell spent most of last night and today working to find a country that would give Aristide exile. ..."

In other words, the White House was behind the coup.
