Hundreds attend funeral for slain abortion doctor

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Hundreds of people have gathered for the funeral honoring slain abortion provider Dr. George Tiller in Wichita, Kansas.

About 700 mourners filled the sanctuary of the College Hill United Methodist Church on Saturday and about 200 others watched a closed-circuit television broadcast in another room. The funeral also drew small groups of abortion protesters and counter-protesters.

Also arriving at the church were about 50 motorcyclists from the American Legion Riders, honoring Tiller's service in the Navy.

A large portrait of Tiller hung at the front of the church and a wreath of flowers bore the words "TRUST WOMEN."

by being there? There were no abortions to stop at that church today. Those people are ugly to the core.

the American Legion Riders who, regardless of the political situation, still came and honored Tiller's military service.

And I really respect them. When the Phelps start singing (they have several parodies they routinely sing while they protest) the Patriot Riders rev their engines to drown them out.

By persecuting Dr. George Tiller for 34 years and then shooting him attending church service, their cruelty has created a martyr for choice. They couldn't have made a braver, more moral, or more noble martyr than Dr. George Tiller. For taking his life, they will lose.
